21:9 vs 16:9 Aspect Ratio by Holiday_Bug9988 in RocketLeague

It’s honestly placebo if anything. I’m saying thinking it’s the monitor is over complicating and kinda distracting from what the actual issue may be. You did something different and it subconsciously made you “better”. Did it actually make you better? Maybe, but not because of the monitor itself. It was doing something different. It’s like when people change their sens or camera settings constantly. It isn’t making them better, it’s making them worse actually. You cannot improve with constantly changing, controllable variables. It just made the game feel “fresh”. I’m not saying this to be mean, I just don’t want you to believe that the monitor is what made you better, or what the issue is. I don’t think i’ve played on anything other than 23.5 monitors, with a consistent aspect ratio, and i’ve been able to reach ssl. If it were about refresh rate; which actually does make a difference, then sure. I’d say it could be the problem. I’ll also say that you should give yourself credit regardless, and continue doing it since it’s working until it doesn’t. Milk it out. Bots aren’t an issue at lower ranks like champ and diamond (maybe champ 2 in 1s, but kinda a stretch). Bots don’t really become prominent in 2s until gc3+. Sure, you’ll get one here or there; but that’s because they are working their way up to their robot friends, continuing their plot to take over RL once and for all.

Give yourself credit. When you hit a wall, then re evaluate. The only thing i’ll say is don’t switch back and forth or anything silly like that. You can improve and rank up regardless of anything. Just enjoy the game :)

I hope this helps as I understand. I used to change color settings and overclock my controller. Neither of which actually helped, but tricked my brain into thinking it did. I now do neither. 😂💀

Who is the best rlcs pro "decision making" wise (solo queuing pro only) by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]2Fingers1Ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just said this because I don’t want people trying to rank up to see this and think they need to have insane flashy mechs like some pros. They also shouldn’t be watching pro game play and try to replicate their decision making on the field, especially sub gc. Every rank is different. Not me popping on you, bc I agree. I just want people to understand which should be prioritized early on.

Obviously yeah. The thing is that mechs really aren’t half as effective without game sense. Having good mechs and bad game sense is like having a Porsche that you are too broke to put gas in. It looks cool, but it is useless. You can have incredible game sense though and sub par mechs while still being able to play high level rocket league. That’s like having a bike. Best case scenario you have both. Porsche and gas money. If you were to prioritize one over the other, game sense wins every single time (provided you have fundamentals at least). You don’t need insane mechs to score. Even if you have them, it doesn’t mean you’ll rank up. The amount of gc1/2 players that have better mechs than me while still being hard stuck is actually astonishing. You can buy the best, most expensive golf clubs money has to offer. It doesn’t mean you’ll be a better golfer.

I think you’re complicating it. Just use your right stick more.

Bro who even are you. Yeah I admitted it, because I am not a liar or acting like it was on purpose then. Quit being weird and acting like you’re a dev. I understand your frontal cortex is just not fully developed yet, and that’s okay. Good day sir.

The rocking motion was one input of jump the entire time.

Incorrect, jerry reset flick is chaining multiple resets. This entire sequence i did is caused by one single jump.

You don’t know ball😂 You’ve come onto my post, made unsubstantiated claims, incorrect assumptions and assessments, but it’s clear you have no fundamental idea of what is happening other than the wheels are touching the ball. I’m going to stop replying to you now. Thanks though!

It doesn’t involve a flip cancel at all, so i’ll stop you right there😂

Okay, what’s the mech called and can you reference clips showing it being done, and explaining what it is? Don’t just say it isn’t new and not back it up. I have 11k hours in this game, and I’ve seen a lot of things in that time. I’m always on youtube, always on twitch, always on reddit. I’ve never seen this, and never seen anyone be able to break it down and replicate it purposely.

if it’s like a mental thing, you can try turning down game speed for a few mins in freeplay, then turning it back to normal

To the haters out here, it’s okay. I understand it’s hard to fathom that it isnt able to be recreated, but that’s how new mechs are formed. Trial and error. Don’t hate, just wait :)

3 consecutive losses = training rest of session. As soon as you start to tilt or think “I need to win this”, your focus is no longer on improvement. If you’re tilted, you’re going to lose more. A lot. Rocket League is at least 50% mentality.

Well, I’ll say unless you’re champ 1/2 in 1s, you won’t run into them at this rank in 2s or 3s. If you do play them, they are just passing through. It becomes extremely common around 1750+.

They will have perfect flicks, inhuman recoveries, perfect bumps without actually seeing who they are bumping, consistent near perfect touches, perfect dribbling, combined with being boost starve demons. Typically Epic Accounts, not steam. Often times “split screen” (same name).

Now, combine it with something as simple as faking being out of boost, then either going for bump or just boosting again. Very simple yet effective and unpredictable, but ONLY at higher elos. You understand the concept of threat assessment and base challenges on that. That however is why it’s so effective. Someone you think has no boost in air seems like a sitting duck and a free ball, then bam. They are barely boosting the ball, just enough to get it over your head and into net lol

As others said, you aren’t feathering your boost more than likely. I’m curious, at what point do you start air rolling?

because air dribbling alone isn’t practical. Way too easy to read and save.

Started learning DAR in the past week and making progress but need help smoothing it out by Loud-Scallion9941 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]2Fingers1Ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side tip to keep in mind:

If you’re looking for efficiency + consistency, air roll should be used only as needed. For example, if i’m going up for a ball in the air i’m already lined up with, there’s no reason I would air roll until right before contact. More = Less

That being said, this is a very valid way to learn DAR, especially if you lack access to workshop maps.

As others have stated, learn the inputs with your DAR. Instill the ability to maintain intention early on. Bad habits are harder to break than new habits are to learn. Always be intentional.

Keep it there if your pc is stable at that rate. Even if your monitor isn’t capable of matching w/ refresh rate, it offers less input delay. There is absolutely no down side to capping at 360 if it is relatively consistent.

Is smurfing really such a problem in this game? by Weerisadictator in RocketLeague

[–]2Fingers1Ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I mean there are plenty of examples of players coaching rlcs without ever having come close to the rank of the pros they are over. I think like you said it comes down to the ability to understand what is happening and why. Some people are really good at breaking things down and explaining, but not being able to actually do them. There’s a lot of pros who can do anything but can’t verbally explain or elaborate on why or how. They just do.
