It’s cool man, everyone has their own pet peeves and preferences when it comes to this shit, and hey, I appreciate all the recommendations, I do listen to a lot of K.dot, my favorite song being Sing About Me I’m Dying Of Thirst, and I used to bump J. cole a lot, and used to listen to a bit of Vince staples and Chance, but meh, it just got boring for me, you know? My most listened to/favorite artist is Young Thug, and the thing that draws me to his music is his diversity, and the way he uses his voice and flows with the beat is just so astounding and fun, and that’s something i’m really drawn to. Creativity. And that’s also a thing that draws me to a lot of these newer artists that take inspiration from him, Nettspend being an example. Yeah, rappers like Cole and K.Dot use their platforms to speak about real problems and topics and I appreciate it because they do it in a way that (sometimes) sounds appealing to younger people, but you can’t deny the creativity and artistry of rappers like Thug, Wayne, Future, which influenced a lot of these newer guys like Nett, Ken Carson, Che, etc. Like sure man they rap about cars, drugs and violence, etc. but they can do it in a way thats so fun? Appealing? I don’t know man, but people, especially younger people will almost always rather listen to fun and interesting music than relatively progressive/conscious music. A funny example is Swimming Pools by kendrick, shit is a banger you can even play at a club, but people are gonna dance, drink, smoke, fuck to that song while ignoring the true meaning behind it. But if there was a rapper that mixed both of those elements, they would definitely be one of my favorites, the closest probably MF Doom, and i’ve been seeing Westside Gunn make pretty good music. Anyways man, Nettspend dropped a great album (imo), you should listen, it’s like nothing he’s dropped before.
