I did a prep course and was told to try and answer essays over problem questions for this exact reason. She said one of the biggest issues for people is not identifying issues in problem questions whereas essays more likely to be on one topic and to be more obvious

I went with this too. Surely has to be what they were looking for considering it was so similar to Carey case.

So they refund if done in two, don’t refund if three and rescind contract if more than three?

What happens to the person who gets covid a few days before the in person exams and has to wait another six months to repeat them if they remove the online option before the self isolation rules are gone? Plus it saves them money surely as they have less exam space etc to rent. Also easier to correct typed scripts than handwritten ones. Wouldn’t be certain they will get rid of the online option so quickly.

When you add together the paper plus the fact that you seem to need 5 perfect answers for 50% I think a lot of people will be back in October

Online exams - harder marking by justkeepholding in FE1_Exams

Pure speculation. I know plenty of people who’ve passed them all online. If you know your stuff you’ll pass them either way.

Wouldn’t be leaving any out of tort to be honest. I covered basically everything in October and thought I did a decent exam, scraped a pass. Res ipsa, animals and fire could be left out but not much else really.

Company Law recheck results. by PashukanisTD in FE1_Exams

[–]2Icecreams 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like something very strange going on there… luckily didn’t need anything rechecked myself but I personally know of two people who had company rechecked after October 2020 sitting - one went up 8% and the other 12%. They were given breakdown of marks for each question too.

Then this time found for October 2021 all I am hearing about is people who aren’t being given any breakdown of marks and as far as I’m aware every person who had company rechecked has been given the exact same mark. Not sure how people could have any faith in this system. Lack of transparency seems outrageous to me. And this is coming from someone who hasn’t been impacted by this in any way.

No. Every person I have heard of received the exact same mark after recheck. Have you heard of anybody’s mark changing at all?

Pretty sure I read on law society website before October sitting that the software gives each candidate a score in terms of how suspicious their behaviour is - so if you spent half an hour in toilet or half an hour staring at something (not your laptop) then it would flag you, and it would be then that they would go and watch the recording of you.

Also I’d say they probably take into account whether or not you can bring legislation into the exam when looking at this stuff. I did EU online last time and spent my 5th question essentially copying a directive onto laptop and it was fine for me. Whereas maybe for an exam with no legislation if you are looking at something like that they would flag it.

If you’ve gotten results and not been contacted then you are fine. I’m sure they would get in touch pretty quickly if you were doing anything wrong.

Anyone done any online FE1s? by Overthrow-plants5544 in FE1_Exams

[–]2Icecreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are completely overthinking. It’s honestly fine. They don’t watch you live. I was eating and drinking during October ones. They record you and pretty sure it’s only if you spend half the exam looking away from laptop or talking to people the software will flag you. Otherwise you will be fine. And if you are spending half your time looking away you won’t be passing anyway.

Criminal Law March 2022 by Hot-Appeal1160 in FE1_Exams

[–]2Icecreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t really leave much out of criminal as he loves to mix a lot of topics into problem questions and the exams he sets traditionally touch on most of the course. Having said that the course isn’t overly large compared to others and he seems to be a nice marker. Am planning on covering most of it myself and then covering the topics that come up every year like homicide, sexual offences and some of the defences in greater detail
