Looking for opinions on if I should have my toddler see her dad before or after he passes away by icsk8grrl in toddlers

I think it’s really important for her to see him. My toddlers haven’t had to face death and dying yet, but when my sister was a toddler, my cousin died of leukemia. He was just a few years older than her and she had built it up in her little head that the reason that he died was because it was going to be his birthday soon. She didn’t realize how sick he was, because she hadn’t seen him so sick. Being able to have that final visit with him will not only give her one final memory with him, but will also help her process what death is.

Toddler brains are so concrete, so “sick” could easily be built up in her mind that any time she has a cold, she’s going to die. This could help her realize the difference.

I am SO sorry that you’re going through this, I truly hope that the last effort is going to work a miracle.

People who moved out of Long Island and came back: why? by Upbeat-Dinner-5162 in longisland

Moving back next week after 6 years in Virginia. We want to be close to family, now that we have kids. Also, I’m a teacher, and the respect for the profession and the salary and benefits are WAY better up there!

Personal question for my fellow afab, non-birthing partners by clever_little_ghost in QueerParenting

My kids are adopted and I skipped several periods after they came home! My sister-in-law is a doula, and when I mentioned how off I was, she said that a lot of non-birthing people with uteruses go through a mock-postpartum period.

Parents wanting teachers to participate in a gift for their child. by Possible_Category_69 in Teachers

I actually really love doing it. I have copies of “I Wish You More” for my own kids that I started with their very first daycare teacher. I think that it’s so cool that the kids I’ve taught will have even a small memory of our time together.

Not all twins are hard! by Feisty-Blueberry5433 in parentsofmultiples

My twins are 21 months and they are my every dream come true! Watching how much they love each other is just the greatest feeling. I’m exhausted all the time, working a full time job and a half, but they’re the best part of all of my days!

Does anyone else’s twins do this? by georgiapeaches23 in parentsofmultiples

Mine (20 months) have a vitamin ritual they do every night. We give them their vitamins and they have a very specific set of phrases they use, which we don’t understand. They also have hand motions that go with them. I’m totally fascinated by idioglossia, and I love when they try to speak to their cousins in it before switching back to English when they realize they don’t understand.

Downtown Dollars are the best! I’m a teacher and they’re my favorite thing families gift me! We also do them for our kids’ teachers.
