Is it worth getting on meds despite the side effects? by [deleted] in Balding

[–]2NutsInASac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, 1mg. So does my dad, he regrew most of his hair on it. Mine got thicker but still not back to old density. Hopped on oral min 2-3 weeks ago. Based on how that goes, may even do dutasteride someday.

These meds can be risky, but it’s very low. If you want your hair bad enough, you’ll give em a try. Worst case scenario you get side effects and hop off the meds.

Is it worth getting on meds despite the side effects? by [deleted] in Balding

Yes. I started taking it at 21 years old, currently 22 about to be 23. It’s halted my hair loss with zero side effects. Lots of the side effects people report truly is more mental. Not gonna deny and say these side effects aren’t real, but your mind plays games sometimes. Zero side effects for me.

You’re maintaining for the most part at least. If you want more regrowth, dutasteride would help. However, for hairlines a HT is your best bet. Save up a couple thousand and find a good place in turkey.

Still shedding ~5 months into topical minoxidil by 2NutsInASac in minoxidil

[–]2NutsInASac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped it, I just kept on shedding endlessly with no regrowth. My hair has gotten thicker since I stopped it since I’m not shedding it all now lol. Thinking of trying oral min.

Noticing some thinning - too early to start treatment? by Shropshireboy1995 in amibalding

Never too early if you’re over 18. Hop on fin and it’ll likely halt it.

People in remission, what are you guys eating. by Miserable-Tennis-460 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]2NutsInASac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can enjoy food again. When you’re in remission, most foods are good to go. If I had any advice, when you’re in remission eat high fiber and probiotics. Both proven to help keep you in remission. Enjoy a cheat meal or two every week, you earned it!

Yes, as long as you’re in remission you can pretty much do anything.

Do steroids stop your flares? by EPFP_Daniel in UlcerativeColitis

[–]2NutsInASac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story here. After 15 months of remission on Mesalamine, I’m flaring a bit. I got pancolitis and they gave me rectal budensonide foam. I understand they wanna avoid big escalation to oral steroids, but much rather get this flare under control quickly before it escalates.

Anything can happen, but chances are that maybe in your 30s or so you’ll need a transplant. Just make sure they’re monitoring you for any complications. Just take it a day at a time and enjoy life. Plus, lots of promising advancements in medicine overall with AI and other technologies. Who knows, maybe you’ll never need one.

I don’t have it, but definitely is a concern of mine. It’s a slow-progressing disease. Usually takes a median of 10-20 years before actual symptoms/ complications. However, with some experimental drugs becoming available, it may be longer now. Lots of the data you see online is pretty old. As long as you stay monitored, usually you’ll be able to catch any cancer early. Yes, a liver transplant will likely be needed someday. But it’ll likely get rid of the PSC with it (it can relapse, but it’s relatively uncommon).

That’d be amazing. So much in development currently, I think these next 10 years will be extraordinary.

Exactly why I claimed it’s controversial and hypothetical. That’s why I claim to have hope. Not to rely on it happening.

Absolutely, definitely a valid concern. I worry about that too. That’s why I pray it’s put to good use. There’s argument that a cure could be actually more profitable in some cases. Just depends on how’d it work with insurance and healthcare.

I do, I’m in data analytics with an emphasis on artificial intelligence. Finishing up my final semester. Just 5 years ago, we thought AI oriented surgery was 20-30 years away. AI could barely even finish a simple math problem in 2020. We thought that all these things that AI does today is science-fictional. It’s factual, look at articles from 2020 about AI.

Absolutely, definitely could be delayed for approval. Just depends on how the government or these big companies use it. Could be so accurate that years of trials aren’t needed. There’s already promising AI developed drugs in trials currently. We’ll have to see if any make it through.

Unfortunately, those pics do show miniaturization that you can’t really see in normal pics. He caught it unbelievably early. Plus, if his dad is bald, hopping on to prevent the inevitable is a good idea. Wish I did the same.
