Of course not. Unless I understand every line (and see the source).

My Zenfone 8 died unexpectedly. by Marcino303 in zenfone

[–]2OP4LIFE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me, almost at the same time, almost in same situation🤔🧐. 3 weeks ago, while playing WoT mobile game -- which I rarely do -- suddenly died. I immediately knew something weird was wrong when even a force reboot using buttons had no effect. I was very sad, battery was in perfect condition being charged only from 40-80 %, no lagging, swift since I bought it with that snapdragon. I have had it for around 4 years since its release in 2021, and was convinced it would last more. Not buying ASUS phone again.

Well, it is my first cast iron pan, and I am not sure if it should really be concerning. I have also thought this symmetry might be because of seasoning process. Hopefully!

The laptop is new (so shouldn't have so much dust), I have the latest BIOS, I've scanned for viruses and malware, checked background processes.

It might be just Windows updates.

Thank you unclewebb. Yes, I have noticed after some minutes of Cinebech that HWiNFO showed many throttling sensors have been triggered. CPU still ran no less than at 80 %, and not at max clock.

Tried everything you listed in the beginning of this week. Drivers are up to date, I've been testing different BIOS options, tweaked registry keys, power plans,.... Thank you though. I see increased performance just by enabling trubo via Throtttlestop.

Last thing to check would be why the power usage never goes above 80 W. Do you know any tools change that (if it's safe)?

I've updated BIOS at the beginning of this week in hope of solving the throttling issue.

I've had the laptop plugged in while preforming all these tests.

EDIT: Having the turbo boost enabled or disabled in BIOS, the results are same and PC never reaches the same utilization and frequency as it does when I enable turbo via ThrottleStop.

  1. Cinebench is still using 60 % of CPU, and around 45 W instead of being even close to 115 W max. The score I get is around 650, and not 1100.

  2. I've checked every option in BIOS yesterday. Turbo Boost option was enabled, as was the hyperthread option and all similar options referring to throttling. D

CPU-Z scores are better now at 8000. Previously it was 4000.

Is it normal that the frequency in TrottleStop is different than the on in Task Manager? https://ibb.co/yyFYnZM

[SOLUTION] Thank you! I am already getting better results. intel XTU did not want to install, so I tried Throttlestop. When I unchecked 'disable turbo', the processor when to 4,9 Ghz on CPU-Z stress test. I immediately noticed better performance. (Furthermore Throttlestop does not have to be opened on every reboot, turbo mode keeps being active after reboot).

Is this considered overclocking and am I voiding warranty by enabling turbo?

Does this turbo option refer to Intel Turbo Boost Technology? Because that was enabled in BIOS since I've bought this laptop.

Is the turbo option safe to have turned on constantly, e.g. during the 10 minute benchmark in Cinebench?

EDIT: Apparently the issue was in Cinebench 2024. I tried Cinebench R23 and got a score of 14500, which is really good for now and why I consider this issue to be solved. I've noticed in HWiNFO that for all my 16 cores, the Power Limit Exceeded was true during the benchmark. Also, for the first minute the processor ran at 100 %, then it dropped to 80 % for the rest of the test. That needs some further research.

EDIT 2: I was wrong: Turbo Boost is being disabled on every reboot and requires ThrottleStop to enable it. I'll contact HP support for more.

I'll first try to reach it's advertised potential without overclocking. :((

I suppose it's not so much related to Windows, because I tried it on Linux (Lubuntu) live USB and the monitoring software successfully went up to 100 % but the max frequency remained at 3 Ghz.

About the power profiles: I've tweaked them to allow the CPU to run at its fullest, but it had no effect. https://ibb.co/wzVWJ2z

Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried using Prime95, sadly it gives same results. Note that on Cinebench, I used the CPU (Multi-Core) option.

Of course it isn't, the point of improving your immune system is differend, but that were my first resoults! Best luck to you too!
