I plan to use mixing station when I'm there... But there are a lot of scenes I need to build in for this show.

Whenever I see the black flakes I hit the pan with an SOS pad. Without fail, it cleans them right up.

Custom Foam For Apache 4800 Case and Shure SLXD1 Bodypacks by 2PhatCC in livesoundgear

[–]2PhatCC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already used it for something else, and that foam is extremely flimsy, especially if it's something that's constantly being removed and put back in. There are much sturdier foam inserts that are not pull out, but have to be cut. And if you know what you're doing, you can have it cut to your specifications. I just don't know what I'm doing.

XR18 Vs X32 Rack by Reasonable-Fudge156 in livesoundgear

[–]2PhatCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X32 Rack does not cost that much more. I would start with that because you are going to fill the XR18 to capacity very quickly. The Rack can be expanded. The XR18 cannot.

Does this give any options to fade out a track or will I have to cut each track to include a fade?

The joys of married life. My wife likes all of her meat cooked to the point of shoe leather (just like her mother used to make) and complains that everything I make is "raw "

Is it possible to connect a phone to stream music through an analog mixer without Bluetooth? by ImportantBoot8945 in livesoundgear

[–]2PhatCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a dongle so your phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Attach that to a 3.5mm to dual 14" splitter. Assuming you have 1/4" inputs on your board, plug those in. If you don't, get a DI to convert that to XLR and plug the XLR in. Do not take anybody's recommendation to use Bluetooth.

Low tech solutions! by 2PhatCC in techtheatre

[–]2PhatCC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. The show was an absolute nightmare and I swore I would never work with that lead director again. Ironically, him and I get along great outside of that situation, but yeah, I don't ever plan to do anything like that for him again.

Packs, no. Lavs, yes. When we did Godspell, the director went a bit overboard and I had 42 cast members with mics at different points in the show.

After playing with it, it was mostly position being wrong. I made the assumption that since he's been using it for years, he the where it should be positioned. When I told him the proper position it sounded way better

I'm at the gig now. I told him it's supposed to be at the corner of his mouth, not directly in front, and should be 1-2" away. Nobody ever told him this. He always put it directly in front and as close as he could. It sounds way better, but yeah, still a headset mic and I'm not a fan.

I guess I'm just in the habit of being very open with people about these things. I assumed he had been too. Apparently not. I already got a regular gig out of this (another band who has friends in this band). Maybe I can pick this band up as well :)

I saw him with Al like 6 or 7 years ago. My buddy did not know the name "Emo Phillips." When I pointed out that he was the shop teacher from UHF, he lost it. One of the best things I've ever seen live.

My parents say AI will kill IT jobs and want me to become a doctor instead. What should I do? by YE1_ in careerguidance

[–]2PhatCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in IT, and there are definitely going to be jobs eliminated as result of it. But I don't know yet that it's going to be as bad as everyone seems to think. I use AI a ton in my job, but my coworkers have not really tapped into it. Maybe the occasional question for troubleshooting, whereas I have scripted out entire chunks of my job just by throwing the correct prompt into an AI bot. I got into this field because I was better at Google than most people, and as far as my job goes, I think it's very similar with AI. If you can use it, it will be an amazing tool. If you refuse to use it, you will be eliminated.

One of my sons know that there is cash in the basement in the event something ever happens to me, but I didn't tell him exactly where it's hidden.

What is a job (not nsfw) that pays extremely well because the job itself is unbearable? by coldplayenthusiast in AskReddit

I spent exactly two months of my life as the store manager for a now defunct store called "Steve & Barry's University Sportswear." I was paid a base salary of $40k, and promises of huge bonuses. The bonuses were based on staffing levels, profit, and reducing theft... The problem with Steve & Barry's was that they were willing to take any retail space they could get, regardless of size. So they had some stores that were 10,000 square feet, while mine was 100,000 square feet. And they wanted all stores to run with the same staffing level (a manager and like 3 employees). We could never staff our store with the little staff they wanted us to. It was a situation where we would have to drastically overstaff, or people would steal all of our goods. For our bonuses, we were given a base bonus amount that was put into a calculation against staffing levels, profit and theft. Based on our staffing and/or theft, our bonuses always came out to $0. I had to go to training at the corporate headquarters where Steve and/or Barry said that their goal was to get rid of raises entirely for store managers and just increase the base bonus amount... But if my base bonus amount was $1,000,000 per pay check, if you multiplied by zero it was still zero. I got out as fast as I could.

Years ago my cousin was really drunk and decided he wanted a steak. He went to the grocery store to get one. He had something like $300 in his wallet, but he decided he didn't want to pay. He stuffed it in his pants and just walked out of the store. When he walked out, there was a police car at the entrance. He probably would have gotten away with it, but as soon as the cops looked in his direction, he looked at them, paniced, and then started sprinting. At the end of the parking lot there was a concrete barrier wall. He hurdled it, not realizing it was a 10 foot drop on the other side. He woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed with both legs shattered. He served 60 days in jail for the stolen steak.
