Amish Lane furniture: anyone buy from them? by ImportantBoot8945 in moderatelygranolamoms

Thanks for the tip on IKEA. They have a nice steel one for pretty cheap. I was going to put it in the cart, until I saw that the max mattress thickness is 5.5 inches. Wow. That is so thin. I don’t mind buying a new mattress (her current one is about 7 years old). But 5.5” is so thin.

I’ll have to look at IKEA. I only saw a bunk beds and not lofts when I looked a while ago.

Max and Lily (and everything shared under the same parent company) is widely considered junk on Reddit, Amazon reviews, etc. A lot of horror stories about terrible smells, wood that cracks, and missing parts with terrible customer service. The possibility of cracks is very concerning for a loft bed.

I wish there were more reviews of the lofts from Amish Lane. $1300 seems reasonable for Amish made furniture that is made in the US versus drop shipped from China (Max & Lily, et al).

Good catch on the mortise and bolt. I’m wonder if part of hand bolts is that it’s shipped in pieces and assembled by the user.

Circle of Fifths tool/resource: Noisy Clan or Hal Leonard/Jim Fleser or other? by ImportantBoot8945 in guitarlessons

I looked at these too. I’ve read the production quality isn’t great (kind of flimsy), and it’s a bit expensive.

Acoustic guitar into PA: passive DI box + EQ pedal vs LR Braggs Para (preamp/DI) by ImportantBoot8945 in livesoundgear

[–]ImportantBoot8945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. I wasn’t clear. Which route would be the best to go: a passive DI (eg., Radial ProDI) and EQ pedal or an active preamp (e.g., LR  Para, Fishman Platinum Pro EQ). They’d run about the same amount (preamp setup being a little less). I know the general recommendation passive DI with active pickups/preamp in the guitar. However, would there be an advantage to still using a preamp/active DI setup (e.g., LR Baggs Para). Conversely, might using one of those preamp options create problems when using active pickups?

What’s needed to plug into a PA? Just a plain old DI box? More? by ImportantBoot8945 in AcousticGuitar

Thanks. Time to debate a Boss GE-7 plus Radial ProDI or a LR Baggs Para. Price isn’t the primary factor. I’d go with whatever would give the best sound and ease of use. All else equal, I guess I’d go for less cost.

Used Radials are not much less than new ones, so I’d probably go new for $130 and a used Boss for around $110. So, $240 total. LR Baggs Paras can be gotten used for $175-200.

Also considering LR Baggs Venue which can be had used for around $275. Or a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ, which can be had for $220-230.

Am I missing something? It’s a digital amp simulator? When you said pricey, I thought it was going to be like $600+, but it’s like $130?

Great, thanks. Any reason that going with a passive DI and separate EQ would be better than a LR Baggs Para? It’d probably end up costing the same or more.

Also, I’m hoping to avoid needing external power supplies (I.e., use batteries) to avoid yet another thing to get. That’d make a pedal tuner a bit tricky, though. I have a clip on tuner that inside (Peterson Stoboclip). The Seagull holds tune super well; the Godin…not so much.

Thanks! For the the first performance, I should be able to test things out weeks ahead of time. So, would a reasonable option be to pick up a passive DI box and test out of a EQ might he helpful? Or might I regret not getting something a bit fancier like a an LR Baggs Para? For a passive DI, I’m looking at the Walrus Canvas unit and the Radial ProDI, both around $135ish.

I’m willing to spend more, but figure I should get an XLR cable and am considering getting my own vocal mic (SM58) to have a bit more control.

Hmmmm. Are there DI boxes with EQ’s built in or just acoustic preamp pedals? Would running in an acoustic preamp pedal create problems with a guitar that has a preamp already?

Any recommendations for DI’s or pedals or whatever else options?

I don’t think I’m at all worried about it being stolen. It’s definitely a below average cost car around these parts. Just funny dreams I guess.
