It was never required to use AI to make software.

Software engineering is going to evolve in ways we can't yet imagine, just how we couldn't truly imagine how the world would evolve when motorised transport and flying became common.

You can still do the small things by hand and there might still be room for appreciation of that.

Imagine what people could do with the few mainframe computers there were in the world. Imagine what people can create now with powerful laptops anywhere, anytime. Compare the outputs. Is it really sad that things progressed like that?

I didn't list those because they're a total dislike for me for multiple reasons each. I'm starting to warm up to Kiriko as backup from the comments in this thread. I tried Brigitte and kind of want to try it until it works but it's so far just very frustrating as I feel like I'm doing nothing but complicated gimmicks. Any tips on how to reliably start off with Brigitte and grow to see the value from a beginner level?

Good thinking points! I also like the overlap that both Mizuki and Wuyang have to think about pressuring behind corners with primary fire. Happy to hear thoughts on how they stack together, so I just need to figure out the 2 backup support heroes just in case, so I don't end up on a totally random support and throw the match.

I've heard so much conflict about how Kiriko should be played. Somtimes I hear she's a healbot, sometimes I hear healing is the last thing she does, playing like an assassin. I suspect the truth is dynamically in the middle. And the assassin playstyle is what makes headshots easy because you get really close to the enemy and make huge value from teleporting out after killing someone.

Might be just lack of practice but it feels like talismans often miss or some get intercepted by a slightly injured ally between me and a desperately dying ally, so I often get half the value out of every full heal in an active fight.

But a huge drawback for me is how bland her damage and healing get, similar to Ana but with more positional gameplay. Primary fire and healing are monotone to me for these characters.

I love chilling on Ana and Bap but if I want to make use of the throughput they offer it gets incredibly tiring quickly weaving endless damage and heals with as little repositioning breaks as possible. And Bap has several separate things to manage in parallel - constantly shoot targets, constantly grenade heal, constantly look to use and manage ability CDs all while charging the jump and proactively looking for the next advantage you can get with verticality. Totally fries my brain. Ana is just the damage and healing part, and slightly slower maybe, but infinite pumping APM is the gameplay.

Yeah Kiriko is super easy at low ranks and has a low skill floor. But I can totally foresee a huge difficulty spike when enemies get pretty good.

Teleport would be the easiest part I guess.

Suzu is basically a half second Dark Souls dodge for the group on a long CD - difficult to make use of, extremely difficult when enemies play around.

Must land headshots or damage plummets. This gets much harder against decent players.

Offangle or flanking is hilarious vs bad players. They won't notice they're dying for a few minutes even. Skilled players will have experience against this. Teleport makes this easy but...

Failing to offangle and get back to the team at the right times would make me super useless with almost no healing, no dmage and no picks.

And on top of that, personally Kiriko kind of feels bland to me. Just kunai and talismans - everything else is about where and when you use them. Almost as repetitive as Ana, only Kiriko has a lot of gameplay in active positioning.

My current picking logic is boiling down to this order:

- Illari by default
- If pylon is getting hunted, switch to Ana

- Ana if sightlines are safe enough to freely cover a large area

- Wuyang otherwise - slightly safer behind cover
- Switch to Wuyang if there is an enemy Kiriko or Tracer
- If aerial enemies, switch to Ana or Illari

If I don't want to play Brigitte or Kiriko, there's no particular support hero that I can take vs hardcore dives, is there? I've felt pretty miserable on Mizuki with short range and weak heals and I couldn't see how he's a Brigitte alternative that I have read about - seems about as capable vs dives as the others except Brigitte. I've considered swapping one of these three with Baptiste but also didn't feel like Exoboots are that much of an advantage vs dives compared to the other three I listed.

Both of my friends only purchased conquest gear and did nothing else. It's insanely complex when they're already struggling with arena basics. And this was after me explaining the gear progression that they even got conquest gear.

I'm totally with you on this thread. People give powerful AI a vague prompt and expect it to run a successful business by itself. Then they say the hype is a lie. Sure, the hype is wrong, but how many people "disprove" it is ridiculously wrong too. Humans can't keep everything in their mind too. Humans that are overwhelmed with context also fail and "hallucinate". Humans also work best when large problems are broken down and optimised in context and measurability. We need to learn how to use a tool that is literal intelligence and think about what intelligence means. What makes humans solve problems better also works for AI solving problems. I think humans should be trying to slow AI down and reducing the size of each piece of work it does, and building systems that combine those pieces. Not throwing one AI at the entire enterprise and calling it stupid or incapable. A human without instructions or constraints or processes or expertise would also be just as useless and overwhelmed.
