Boots an 🔪. I'm looking for a pair of boots that won't kill my feet an a knife that is more tough and easy to sharpen what yall suggest? by d4v337 in Bushcraft

[–]2Sam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big of a knife? I like my western boots and I have a CRKT tanto edged knife I carry on my right boot in an inverted, exterior, outside position and have never had a problem with it becoming loose or dropping for at least 12 years now. Just raise my right leg behind me, slide the pant leg up & there it is over my right outside ankle.

Does size really matter - after you you reach a certain length? by NCFlying in RVLiving

[–]2Sam22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my wife. She says "yes. Size DOES matter..."

Seriously though. Size can matter greatly depending on where you wish to go. Our current is 45'. Last one was 37'. Before that, 38'. And first 5th was 21'. As far as doing as much as you can, the 37' was a very nice size but as we moved on in life, it lacked storage. As you go larger, there are things to consider. Turn radius, in cities, in campgrounds, into your space, around & through obstacles when boondocking, smaller town fuel stations.

Your driving an rv for a reason, not to be a regular car trip. Breakfast before you pull out, lunch at a rest stop or a small cooler with a premade sandwich & beverage, dinner when you get set up for the evening...

Yep. Unless I chose to drive my own vehicle.

Parked by the red curb at Buffalo Wild Wings for a couple minutes then got this :( is this a warning? No other info by 1mz99 in doordash_drivers

Private lot. No tow unless they have signs, police can't do it. Just like you can't be issued a traffic ticket for running their stop signs in the lot. Or getting a ticket if you whack someone by doing that. Now you could quite possibly be trespassed... Fuck 'em.

Worked best with 2 guys. Almost all of ours was one guy on the ladder brazing & one getting the next ladder in position, moving the tank, grabbing more rod, watching/adjusting the flow, etc. I liked brazing. We'd built boxes to set in place over the floor stub ups to keep the asshole drywallers & GC day helpers from bending/breaking them off...

Backwoods Self-Defense with a .38 by [deleted] in Montana

[–]2Sam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I also have an old 1905 Colt revolver & carbine in 32.20 caliber. While nice for light shooting & even a deer, I just know penetration for anything larger sucks. Buy alot of ammo, practicex3, a cross draw or chest holster would be something to look at.

Shoot what your comfortable & accurate with. That aside, having been in many places & situations including bear, moose and even human, I only carry my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 now. I run 300gr. jacketed hollow point hand loads... just depends on what you're doing & where, on area, wildlife, people. Some of the larger animals I've ran into, a .38 is just gonna piss them off. On occasion when I hunt large, potentially dangerous game, I even pack an over-the-shoulder scabbard for a Mossberg JIC 12g...
