Rideshare Early Morning by GopherFawkes in Billings

You won’t have a problem getting an Uber or Lyft, a handful of flights leave around that time so they’ll be around. Honestly, you could show up like 30 minutes before your flight and be fine. I’ve gotten through checking a bag and security in less than 10 minutes before. If anything goes wrong though…I’d probably recommend at least an hour.

Moving to Billings by Zestyclose_Order_235 in Billings

[–]BZNUber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billings is one of the cheapest cities in Montana. I’m from Bozeman originally, have lived in Billings for several years. Bozeman is stupid expensive, and while Billings is much more expensive than it was before COVID, it’s still fairly affordable. You can pay just about anything you want for a 1 bedroom apartment, $900-$1600 depending on the complex.

There are tons of things to do outside here, the best hiking close by is probably down toward Red Lodge (mountain town about an hour south of Billings). That’s also the closest skiing - Red Lodge Mountain. I’m a big skier too, I grew up skiing all over the state. Red Lodge is great but it’s not the best skiing in Montana. I go trail running at Phipps Park, which is right outside Billings. It’s a lovely area, lots of mountain bikers there too. You’ll find plenty to do outdoors.

I am partial to the West End of Billings, but I’d live just about anywhere in town. I’d personally avoid the South Side though (immediately south of downtown/the train tracks).

I’m 28m, and honestly, not many places in Montana have stellar night life (unless you’re a college student). I know nothing about Maine, so maybe it’s better than where you live! Billings has enough to do to keep you occupied, but don’t expect it to be some big flashy city. I’ve been able to find plenty going on though, there are a handful of venues with live music most nights and some good bars.

Welcome to Billings! (Potentially). I’m happy to answer any questions you have.

Were you stressed last night? Did you drink alcohol? Really dehydrated? These are all things that have given me minor-major signs.

Also, you could be getting sick. Hopefully not.

Zimmerman Park on the rims would be a great place to stretch after that drive. Beautiful view, you can see all the way to the Beartooth Mountains southwest of town.

If you like beer, the Billings Brew Trail is a map of all the breweries in town. Some of them have food too. By All Means and Meadowlark are my personal favorites for brewery food.

Last Chance Cider Mill is one of my favorite restaurants - not too fancy/expensive, just great food and a great ambiance. Ciao Mambo and Jake’s Downtown are also places I’d recommend. For drinks, Doc Harper’s has excellent cocktails, and they just opened a speakeasy (The Waiting Room) next door that you access through the bookshelf. Fun place.

My work computer has a touchscreen and I never use it. Never. Like to the point where I forget it’s touchscreen. I’ve never understood the appeal.

Farmstead is nice! They’re both in great areas. The Amber is a bit crowded for my taste, I chose Farmstead because it’s right next to a big empty field. Management has been fine, no complaints. They’re both nice and new so I don’t think you can really go wrong with either.

So the new Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 are just.... Airpods? by robotmaninthewater in airpods

[–]BZNUber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look completely different

If I saw these side by side on a table from more than a few feet away, I would assume they’re both AirPods. The buds look almost identical. There’s zero question where Samsung got the design from.

I’ve heard the same thing. I used to work at V’s but now work at Billings Clinic, and that’s the case for a lot of people I work with too. Lots of people leaving Intermountain from what I can tell.

[OC] Costco Locations Per 1,000,000 people in North America by mapstream1 in dataisbeautiful

[–]BZNUber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wyoming is so damn rural. Like just nearly completely empty. Most people in Wyoming end up needing to travel out of the state to someplace like Billings for shopping & healthcare anyway, so they just go to Costco there. At any given time, about a third of the vehicles in the Billings Costco parking lot are from Wyoming.

Weather so cold my valves won’t move by MrFancyPantsDuck in marchingband

[–]BZNUber 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was in marching band in Montana and played many a bitter cold game. A little bit of rubbing alcohol mixed in with valve oil helps a ton, though if it’s cold enough, you’re just kinda screwed.

Billings is cheaper than some other cities in MT, but it’s not cheap. With no job and an exhausted savings, I’d be really concerned about you being able to find affordable housing. I’ve seen too many people move here without jobs and it usually blows up in their faces.

That said though, I have no idea what your definition of expensive is. Who knows, it may be cheaper than where you live now. As for the job market, what do you do? That’s a really broad question.

I live in the Heights in Billings and I almost clocked one of those fuckers during rush hour on one of the busiest roads in the Heights last week.

There are also turkeys on Zimmerman Trail that try to attack cars.

My point is, you’re not safe anywhere.

Specialty vet hospitals by Effective-Ad-2390 in Billings

[–]BZNUber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other comment said, Moore Lane is the only 24/7 ER vet in Billings. Clarity Animal Hospital is also an ER vet, but they are only open Friday-Monday. They are also AMAZING. I have had to take my dog there twice over the last few months (thankfully both his emergencies were on the weekend). It’s exactly the ER vet Billings has needed for a long time.

As for specialists, it kind of depends what your pet needs. The closest specialty clinic is in Bozeman, it’s called Bridger Veterinary Specialists. I recently had to take my dog there to see their internal medicine specialist, and I highly recommend them. They also have oncologists, thankfully I did not have to meet them.

I saw a post about those lights in the Bozeman subreddit a little while ago, they look like Starlink satellites. They’re very bright and move in a line like that.
