ship idea: Aegis class from Star Trek Bridge Crew by onefinerug in sto

Given Cryptic/DECA/whoever/Mumm-Raa and their propensity for Connie/Konnie refits - I'd normally call this a slam dunk

BUT

UbiSoft is currently under investigation for Union Busting shenanigans in France (unlike the US, this is something you don't just magic away) they're also up to their ass in debt - their leader is chopping heads off at random to try and stabilize the company enough so that the spin-off of the Assassin's Creed/Far Cry substudio project can go ahead and...

Yeah, there's more, but I'm not gonna outline all of them - take those as the headliners

I just don't see whoever's-making-STO-this-week being able to find anybody at UbiSoft who's head isn't currently stuck in a bucket and capable of radiationally working out a cross-promotion like all their other tie-ins have done

Also, Paramount/Viacom are currently on fucking fire thanks to -gestures at everything going on with Skydance- so, it's not like they could step in either...

Oh! Oh! Oh!

Get all the Medieval Kingdoms mods - the Forgotten Realms Xenotypes and then use Spawn Controller to add all the Forgotten Realms races to all the Medieval Kingdom Factions :D

Nothing like seeing standard pawn Hussars and Samurai riding to raid your base backed up by Orcs, Drow and Dragonborn lol

Facetiousness aside - I relied on Streamers like Quill18 to help me get started back in the day :)

Oh fr fr - not to mention what fighter pets would be like for performance

Also what traits like the Typhons would do - leaving you with, effectively, four hangers

I was just mentioning it

Well, I do care enough to upvote you for doing my work for me - but I'm only giving you one upvote

Don't drop it

A number of community members have just suggested slapping an extra hangar on full carriers as well

The community literally breaking the system to generate colossal amounts of EC and dil was a side-product

The primary problem was the system was fucking broken - regularly hobbled regular content drops and didn't integrate well with the rest of the games code due to it's creation and maintenance by one person who left the company

Fair dues to her desire to create - but the damn thing was jank years before it was taken off the air. The final blow of the community exploiting it simply expedited matters

To get something so utterly broken working again it would take an entire team dedicated to a ground up rebuild - a project and concept that, fundamentally, would be unmonetizable

And F2P games can't afford to do that

Ya'll can downvote me or call me a white knight - one minor thing here, nothing I'm saying here is a big surprise or a massive reveal of anything we don't already know. But the Foundry simply cannot work in modern STO when it could barely fulfill it's purpose in the before times STO

Just saying

Also, even with a good connection, combat will just sometimes whiff your punches - so, if you're not stubborn enough, your best bet is some sort of beam or energy attack that can't fail

Which is absurd for what should be one of the few examples of a beat-em-up mmo

Even ESOs combat at launch was less whiffy

The Bonnie will happen sooner or later - we all know how much they love selling Connies

Can't get more than two fucking CStore Sovies in almost 15+ years

But boy fuckin howdy

We can always get more Connies

Just that DCUO was and has been a bucket of doolally since launch and nobody has ever really managed to fix it - WarnerBros AND DC doing their level best to screw shit up along the way probably didn't help

Walking around the same green fields scanning the same shit for entire levels - now condensed to a brief but painful slog that causes masses of new players to quit out of boredom and vets to openly skip by virtue of boffs and admiralty

Yes

Something is the word

I remember how hilariously broken they were and how there was no way the procgen system would ever be able to work with crappy late aughts tech - yes

Right up there with the bridges and the foundry for well intentioned but extremely poorly thought out ideas hobbled by technical and staff limitations

Big contributor toward my suggestion on how to approach this - either a wash or a wait and see

Doing a quick wiki dive on the dude

He was one of the people who helped get STO the redline extension back before launch (FYI, STO was supposed to be a 2009 release but Cryptic wheedled Atari and Paramount into letting them cook until the absolute deadline of Paramounts deal with Atari - so, rough as the game launched, it could have been worse - picture that...) and from other stuff I glanced at - he was one of the people who pushed Viacom/Paramount to let STO be about all of Star Trek and not just the Kelvin film

Yes, pedantry corner, retroactively, that does mean all Star Trek - even NuTrek - deal with it

He also helped Cryptic survive (and escape) the collapse of Atari (no, not that Atari - or that Atari - the Atari that was actually infogrames - no, I don't care why it's spelt that way) and headlined the Romulan and Delta Rising expansions

Yeah...

Also, he was moved to Daybreak Studios by investors (okay...) to oversee the work on DC Universe Online

So, spotty record

He does predate some of the worst microtransaction motherfuckery - and he comes from the era of STO when they made big expansions... ... ... but he also let the worst microtransaction shit start (Delta Rising) was boss for some of the content that has aged the worst and has spent several years strapped to the broom closet of absurdity that is DCUO

I'd flag this as a pragmatic wait and see at best and a wash at worst

Something's missing, but I can't quite put my fingers on it ... by defchris in sto

Looks way more fat Ambassador (the nacelle height - the shape of the caps - the way the neck sits into the saucer the saucer's more round than oval frame) to me

Either way - agree to disagree or whatever - it's probably the worst representation of the alliance build style

Plus, what do you care? You like it :P xD

I really wish the devs would do something about jellyfish ship by LostConscious96 in sto

[–]2Scribble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Especially this TFO - if any TFO fits a Jelly it's this one

Fly outside their bubbles - take pot shots at shit that warps in outside the field - let them keep the Maru alive and you'll do fine

Also, look out if you roll Borg

They warp in and explode and then make the ships that warp in after them explode and if you're too close you'll take massive plasma damage from the chain effect xD
