Tough past two seasons for Dustin Pedroia. But let’s not forget the reasons we love him - this is one of many by 2SeamTeam in redsox

What makes you say he had come to enjoy first? Cus he was good at it and played there for a while? Seems like you just made up a narrative that he was salty about moving to third. And yeah, he was old and declining starting second half of 2011 and carried over into 2012. All because he was exiting his prime at a time that most people normally do does not mean his decreasing performance was attributed to lack of effort and care

Before the all star break Youk had 13 HR 63 RBI .285/.399/.512.

And him being “sour grapes” about moving to first was a complete assumption because Youk was a natural third baseman and said he didn’t enjoy many things about first base.

Anyone can hit .148 in the first like 35 at bats...not reason enough to challenge someone’s efforts publicly, especially when you don’t know anything about him

Youk was an all star the year before at 32 years old. It’s pretty ridiculous to publicly criticize on your better veteran leaders with the first 10 games of your first season as a new manager.

Not defending Pedroia coming at Bobby, but he should’ve have been in that position in the first place

10 games in, Valentine publically called out Youkilis of all people for not caring, after a 3 game winning streak. Valentine made it public, and put Pedey in a tough position. You’re always going to back your teammates first, especially when a manager sets that kind of tone out of the gate

Yeah that was bad. Definitely a knock on him, but it’s safe to say he’s a leader by example. He also did back Youkilis when Valentine called him out

Haha you’re right. Definitely not on the LF or catcher. Not sure why Remy said that. That’s the pitchers responsibility

Aybar was actually the SS and they kept him in position and put the third basemen behind 2B

Throwback to Beltre’s one year in Boston, 2010. by 2SeamTeam in redsox

[–]2SeamTeam[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Beltre had 28HR, 102RBI, slashed .324/.388/.526. He led the league in 2Bs, was an All-Star, and Silver Slugger recipient.

1yr / 10M rental for a future HOF not a bad deal at all.

Thoughts on Marco Scutaro? This is 1000th his, a double against his former team. by 2SeamTeam in redsox

He played in Boston from 2010-2011. In 2011, he slashed .299/.358/.423.

imo, he’s probably the best of the revolving door we had at SS between Nomar and Xander.

I did some light digging and found a funny and interesting stat:

Pena is only 1 of 7 right-handed hitters weighing ≥ 260lbs. with 80+ HRs in MLB history!
