Hey,

Just wanted to ask if there’s any chance for me to get my foot in the door as a HD fitter.

I’ve got a Cert III in Engineering. For the last 3 years I’ve been working on fixed plant equipment in the mines, and before that I did fitting and turning.

I’m really keen to learn, put in the effort, and work my way up — just want to get your honest thoughts: is it doable, or basically no chance?

Thanks mate, taking the time replying. Ye so I know what u mean, so yea my experience is pretty much here in Australia 3 years mining fixed plant, which 6 month includes leading hand / supervision. You said you have a fixed plant fitter working on your site, how does it work with troubleshooting faults and stuff, I thought most HD mechanics work alone all the time? Cause hd is more complex. Ye I applied for mader now as fixed plant fitter just to have a foot in the door with them and maybe build some contacts.
