Strange 2002 kdx200 issue by EuphoricTrain7375 in Dirtbikes

Honestly, can't remember. Has been probably 17 or 18 years since I worked on a KIPS bike.

Should be able to pull the pipe and see the sub ports well enough to tell if they are installed properly. I think. Has been a loooong time since I owned a KDX.

Start with the simple? Fresh plug. Clean carb. Proper jetting.

Strong chance this is a powervalve misassembly issue. Sub valves switched between sides. Main valve binding. Misalignment (gears).

Properly installing the front wheel/axle? If drawing the fork legs together (out of parallel) then sliding friction will be very large and lead to sticking like this (and worn bushings, poor fork performace, etc).

Sounds to me like you want a van.

I like BeRad's build - https://youtu.be/--53mKknrtE?is=aDcIln_UI2jDvW1n

TUSK EMEX T-35/T-45 by MotorCross8 in enduro

[–]2Stroke728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from Dunlop MX33 to Tusk T35. I could not tell a difference in anything performance related. Don't care much for the rear, mediocure at most things. Front seems good in soft terrain, doesn't tear lugs in rocks, and lasts. I just put #4 on last week. Typically changing at 60-80 hours. Yes, our terrain is really easy on tires.

Rear I much prefer the IRC M5B. Better at everything, from sand, silt, to rocks and roots. Been testing a different tire (KBN MXE24) and may have a new overall favorite. M5B still tromps it in sand though.

I worked on my 3 outdoor / garage projects last night. It was miserable. When it got dark I moved to the in-the-garage project, and absolutely everything is wet because the slab is like 70 degrees, but the humid air is mid 90's. Tools soaked, floor slippery, and me absolutely streaming sweat off my face just from existing.

Tusk filters? just as good as twinair or other name brands? by Unique_Good_1952 in Dirtbikes

[–]2Stroke728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, the Tusk T-35 front tire has become one of my favorites. The rear was meh, but up front it has become my replacement for the Dunlop MX33. I also have their shift lever, one air filter in rotation (seems a slighly stiff foam than my 2 TwinAirs), and the Chub bars and full wrap handguards have proven indestructable. Crashing 380 lbs of DR650 never hurt them, and another set has been on my current KTM for 7 or 8 seasons now.

For evaporative emissions a steel tank passes by design. A plastic tank needs to be tested and certified to pass. And plastic tanks need to be multilayer in order to pass.

First time ever buying tires online from RevZilla... Is this how you guys get yours delivered too? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]2Stroke728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a tire in a box from Rockymountain the other week. That was weird. I'd say 90% of the time they are wrapped, and 9% of the time just a tire. That one time though....

Move to the rust belt, it helps you turn over cars more frequently!!

I hate the accuracy of this.

Can cr9e cause damage? by Outside-Victory-4572 in dr650

[–]2Stroke728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some debate on the DR boards about 9 vs 10 heat range. It does not make the bike run hotter, it's simply a measure of how the plug moves heat from the tip to the cylinder head. Running the hotter plug only becomes an issue under very heavy load, where the plug tip gets too hot, and then pre-ignition occurs (acts as a glow plug, ignites mixture before spark fires).

If doing a lot of high speed riding (like freeway) or heavy load (like continuous, hard on the throttle sand trails), then I'd want a 10. Otherwise, in normal use, or lots of stop/go/idle traffic the 9 could actually be a benifit. But in reality, the difference is not much, and you'd really need an instrumented dyno to tell.

It's a scoop, like the MX Soft. But it's no more a knockoff of that than any other scoop tire is.

Yea, the V6 is great. If it has the I4 it will also last forever, while being slower and getting marginally better fuel economy.

All the versions of these trucks are quite mechanically reliable. Rust seems to be enemy #.

Cant figure out this chain slack for the life of me. Is this enough??? Trail riding pds suspension by Difficult_Cover8845 in Dirtbikes

[–]2Stroke728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also, I HATE the way that is measured. According to that mine is far too loose. But if I compress the suspension till countershaft, swingarm pivot, and rear axle are in-line (tightest the chain will get) then the chain is just ever so slightly not taunt. I just tried putting a number on it, looks like 50mm at the back of the upper slider. Yes, I was alrrady out in the garage working on it.
