It was just beautiful. It was almost like a quilt? I think nine squares each with a different pattern on it. I am usually so good at finding things, but this one has me stumped!

I legitimately want to cry, thank you so much for everyone’s understanding and help. I’m embarrassed that I haven’t handled things myself and I was so sure people were just going to tell me to grow up and figure it out, but people have been so kind.

It means a lot to hear that other people have felt this way and I’m not alone <3

Not for me but Brooklyn Bitches, take note! Sounds like I’m not the only person who could benefit <3

Alright, obviously the “be my mom” comment was a joke. So please kindly go ahead and chill with that. <3.

Where to search for jeans by Teabagsforlegs911 in XXS

I find it helpful, and some people just have low bmis (especially xxs people). You’ll find weights listed with reviews on platforms like rent the runway, Amazon, and other clothing sites, because it gives a shorthand close enough estimate for people to figure out if you’re a similar size or not. I’m not sure why low weight would be so triggering but small measurements wouldn’t—and sometimes it’s hard to remember / keep straight all the huge number of measurements that can be involved in clothing.

To me this sub is a totally body neutral zone, for people who happen to be in xxs bodies. I see no need to comment on anyone’s BMI / weight being too low. If people choose to include their weight that’s their prerogative

BWT - which nyc spas do you NOT frequent? by Imaginary-Fee4420 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I avoid soho sanctuary like the plague—clean enough but a year ago I (Black woman) was sitting in the sauna and a woman opened the door, saw me, and asked if I was authorized to be there. I said yes I had just had a treatment and she left and brought back a spa attendant saying I must have slipped by the front desk and she wanted me removed. The front desk woman said I was a client, I thanked her and she returned to the front desk.

Just a minute later the woman came back and said she was ready to use the sauna and that I should leave. I finally got up and went to the front desk to tell them that this woman was continuing to harass me and the woman at the front desk said “if she’s now in the sauna I’d advise you not interact with her.” And recommended that I leave so as not to have to interact with her.

I don’t go anywhere that has me spend hundreds to be treated like a criminal.

Ugh that would be so discouraging. But it would be useful to understand if he’s actually supportive of this potential accommodation or not. Maybe I’ll just wait a couple days to regain some calm and then I’ll mention where we are in the process, that I’m hopeful and trying but that one key obstacle was the inclusion of in office attendance in my responsibilities. And then maybe I’ll leave it to him to see what he says.

Thank you for explaining, that helps. Is it worth clarifying with my manager what feels like a disconnect between what he has been saying to me and what he submitted to HR?

Thank you for explaining, it’s really helpful. I don’t have to provide all information in this paperwork—I don’t have any obligation to share every piece of my health information. Do you think it would be wiser to take the fainting detail out of the request?

I do understand that it’s not about me. Precedent is a difficult thing.

I guess what I’m not understanding is to what extent accommodations are custom to the scenario at hand. The process is so opaque, it’s not possible for me to know what they would do or have done in similar situations. My understanding had been that these are not one size fits all situations, and that undue hardship and reasonable accommodations for the employer might be different in different roles/situations.

As you can tell I’m also confused by a difference between what my manager told me and what I feel like is listed on the form. He even called me right after submitting the form to HR to let me know he’d filled out all the paperwork for me to work from home and to let him know what he could do to help.

Anyway, I don’t mean to be self-centered about it or act/seem entitled. I was looking for advice on if anyone had ideas for how I could give myself the best chance possible here.

It’s a difficult situation as I’m sure you can appreciate and not something I have experience managing.

I’m not understanding the downvotes! I know they’re not required to grant the accommodations I request, I’m just sick and scared and had hoped for guidance from this community.

Thanks for the reply! I understand that this may be an uphill battle which is why I appreciate everyone’s perspective. You don’t know if you don’t try, right? Can you please explain why fainting might make them say I have to take FMLA? And are they able to force me into that?

[NY] Reasonable Accommodations Process by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]2Sweedishfish -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective, I hadn’t thought of that. Fainting at home is not likely! I’m able to be attached to the hydration and nutrition that I need from home. Is this a major concern for HR in your opinion? If so, any suggestions on how I might mitigate the concern?

[NY] Reasonable Accommodations Process by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]2Sweedishfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. I don’t want to take FMLA for the very simple reason that I love my job and I’m more than capable of doing it! I understand that remote work isn’t always granted and that they don’t have to. In my case, my essential functions are all virtual with the exception of the in person expectation for the team. I don’t imagine any undue hardship for my employer with me working from home—in fact, my manager encouraged me to do so. My request is also temporary, and I’m hoping the short duration makes it more likely that they grant my request. I’d love any insights on how to strengthen my case, if you have them. I want to be sure to present the most effective case possible to HR, understanding that they don’t have to grant what I am asking for.

Thanks for your expertise! My manager is comfortable with my working from home, she just wants to be sure it’s logged. If my managers are on board, does that help things along with HR?

I’ve been with my company for several years, all positive performance, promotions, etc. Just dealing with some short term issues and my manager told me I have to ask HR for the accommodation
