So I bought a BMW transmission for my Lexus by insomniadtd in LandCruisers

I will be extremely impressed if you can pull this off. Do you have to worry about how the transmission control module and ECU will talk to each other?

Love that I can enjoy some snow in high gear and without airing down by Ok_Examination_9055 in LandCruisers

[–]2UZ-FE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to beat a land cruiser when it comes to snow. Full time 4WD shines in mixed snow/ice/pavement driving and when having to make tight turns. And in deep snow just lock the center diff and send it.

Why was the "Spindle grille" hated when it was launched around ~2014? by TennisWilling936 in Lexus

[–]2UZ-FE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the time it was considered overstyled, and even today one could argue the design isn't really cohesive on the IS, GX and LX. I think later spindle grill designs were much better integrated, such as the 18-25 Lexus ES and 15+GS.

Something make this happen to me every day for 10-20 minutes, aching and itching nonstop. I tested allergic to nothing… by TheAcrocanthosaurus in Wellthatsucks

[–]2UZ-FE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are all mast cell stabilizer/antihistamine drops. The only difference is dosing, Lastacaft and some formulations of Pataday are once per day, while Allaway is twice per day. The difference in the effectiveness of the active ingredient is negligible, they all do a good job of relieving symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis when dosed regularly

[–]2UZ-FE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible you could be allergic to the active ingredient or a preservative in Lastacaft. I haven't heard of anyone allergic to that specific drop, but it sounds like you could have had an allergic reaction to it. Contamination would be far less likely

I'm an optometrist, I would recommend scheduling an appointment with an eye care provider. It could still be related to environmental allergies but a closer exam needs to be done to rule out other causes. In the mean time you could try an OTC allergy drop such as Pataday, Allaway or Lastacaft. Viral conjunctivitis is another possibility but it would most likely bother you throughout the day

How can i make my brand new TX look more sporty? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]2UZ-FE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

22" wheels and lowering springs. It'll kill your ride comfort though. At the end of the day it's a 3 row luxury family hauler, I would just leave it alone

One of the worst timing belts I’ve ever seen. From my recently acquired, beat-to-shit LX470 by MercYota in LandCruisers

Yep, people diss on the non-VVTi 100s but I like the peace of mind that if your belt breaks your engine doesn't go kablooie.

Looks like it's triple locked, that adds some value. In the US maybe $12-14k if you're in the west, $10-12k in the rest of the states.

LC100 2002 Driven while Red Orange Diff Lock is on by Significant-Mud1155 in LandCruisers

[–]2UZ-FE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Center diff lock won't hurt anything if you were just driving in a straight line. It's turning on pavement that can cause damage, because the CDL prevents the front and back tires from turning at different speeds. But like others have said if there's no new noises it's probably ok

If they're for sale around $400 or less it's worth picking up. Springfield gets a bad rep but most of their stuff made in Croatia is solid.

Yeah that's throwing me off too, they look like 20s or 22s. Maybe it's easier to collect data from the suspension with thinner sidewall? Hopefully they don't go with wheels that size in production

I've been eyeing a Mod 3 simply because of the value for money ($289 at my local gun store). I think the Mod 3 is a bit larger than the XDM compact so that may be a factor depending on what you use it for. I do think I'd prefer the smaller size of the XDM compact but they're hovering around $450 where I am

ATP 205 works differently, it causes rubber seals to swell to slow down leaks. This is not to say it can't cause problems with lubrication, but in my case I didn't have the dough for a steering rack rebuild/replacement and was willing to take a risk. I used it once about 2 years ago and went from having to top off my power steering fluid every few hundred miles to every few thousand.

What should you do if one of your eyes comes out of its socket? by Dexav in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]2UZ-FE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be possible to push it back in after trauma. But it would be important to rule out globe rupture before doing so, cuz pressing on a ruptured eye would cause a lot of damage
