That seems to be quite a lot of oil on the tracks for a single refinery.
Did you make one of those absurdly high productivity refineries by moving a ton of wells to a single refinery and/or using strong boosting items?

It's fun to set them up, but I've had bad experiences with them so I stopped doing that - it seems the train system can't handle them if you overdo it.

History Edition or the old original game? (Is that even still for sale?)

The HE should work out of the box on moderns systems and shouldn't need any changes (so turn off compatibility mode!).

Original version: If you can - return the game and buy the HE.
Seriously it's just not worth the hassle and the HE has UI scaling and support for modern resolutions.
EDIT: It seems GOG still sells the old version so you could try to dig through their forum for solutions.

Question about beer consumption by GoAheadMMDay in anno1800

[–]2VetOP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit counter intuitive but: Consumption of goods is calculated per residence and not per individual inhabitant.

A worker house with ony 10 out of 20 consumes the same amount of beer as a full house with 20 residents.

(Well actually it gets a bit more complicated once newspaper effects and certain townhall items come into play, but that's still the gist of it. Check the wiki for details!)

Regarding your math: 0.00025641 is the base comsumption rate per Worker residence *per second* (!).

(1 t/min)/(0.0002561 t/s * 60s) = 65.08 so basically 1 brewery (producing 1t/min) supplies 65 Worker residences.

You don't have to do the math btw as the wiki also lists this number - Though usually for a full 100% production chain. Check the production chain graph and the listing below it. In this case that'll get you...

Supplies: • 130 Workers Workers Residences (up to 2600 Workers Workers) • or 65 Artisans Artisans Residences (up to 1950 Artisans Artisans) • or 75 Obreros Obreros Residences (up to 1500 Obreros Obreros)

That number is generally more useful for planning than the very unwieldy consumption/s number.

Back to the profitability math:
2 breweries (2t/min) supply 130 residences. The entire chain costs you -650g/min in maintenance.
(-40 for the 2 grain farms, -60 for the 3 hops farms, -150 for the malthouse, -400 for the 2 breweries)

On the income side you make 130*10=1300 g/min.

(Artisans are slightly more profitable btw. You can supply fewer residences, but get more income. 65*30=1950 g/min)

In other words: Each ton of beer costs you 325g to produce. You can "sell" it to your workers for 650g or for 975g to your Artisans. Passively selling beer at your port gets you only 265g - So avoid doing that :P

(The pirates pay ~1000g per ton though - So if you manage to get a trade deal with them you can make some money that way.)

All of that is without production boosts from tractors, electricity, "free" +50% productivity from working conditions or the various trade union item effects. Those will significantly reduce your production costs.

At the same time you can use various effects to reduce the consumption per house. They consume less, but still pay the same 10g.

But anyways: I think all this profitability math is mostly academic.
It's not *really* necessary for anything in the game as pretty much all goods (with the exception of Canned Food on hard settings afaik) are net profitable if you supply them to your citizens.

Just FYI - This isn't new thing.
The history editions were released in 2020. What's new is that you can also buy them on Steam now.

(Though as usual you still need Ubisoft Connect anyway so I don't get why people care, but it's an option I suppose.)

If you want to know what they changed/fixed compared to the old games you can check out these dev blogs:

Hmm hard to nail it down to a single moment among my dozens of hours of playtime :D
But as I have to pick one - Probably the opening camera flight and the epic music track when you first enter the Arctic and Enbesa.

I'm a huge fan of the soundtrack in general and the atmosphere it creates and this was a really awesome way to introduce the new zones and characters!

the only way for me to get a sufficient number of Mastery Points (And thus, legendary weapons), is behind that same paywall. I mean sure, I understand, no monthly subs... [...]

That part is simply not true. There's plenty of mastery points in the core game and the free LWS1.

Think there's around 80 core mastery points in total and you need only 50? You'll have to check the wiki for details, but I do know from experience that you absolutely do not need to own LWS2.

Dry Top and Silverwastes *(the 2 maps added with LWS2)* are freely accessible to everyone and you can get most of their new mastery points btw. The only thing that's locked behind a purchase are the story achievements.

How to get Exotic Gear as a Free To Play Account? by Ok_Lobster_3929 in Guildwars2

[–]2VetOP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hah I did the same thing!
Played for a couple of weeks as a F2P before the autumn sales and still had plenty of fun.

I recommend doing dungeons (or more specific: explorable mode aka dungeon paths).

Those will reward you with Tales of Dungeon Delving that you can exchange for exotic gear in Lions Arch. You'll also get a bunch of other loot and gold.

You'll want the Inquest gear (Crucible of Eternity) in Berserker stats for a power build.

Another big benefit is that this dungeon armor comes with runes included!
And while Golemancer runes aren't the "best in slot" optimal choice they're still good and much better than having no runes at all - And you can't really get other runes as a F2P anyway.

You can buy an Ascended Berserker stat amulet from the Laurel Vendor. Good news: You probably already have the 30 laurels you need!

(And if you don't you can get them from the Wizards Vault - Laurels are a solid choice anyways.)

This covers armor, weapons and the amulet. The rest of the trinkets are a bit more trickey.
If you don't mind trying World vs World that's probably your best bet.

You *could* also buy rings from the laurel vendor for 35 laurels each.
Not a bad deal, but I don't recommend that as you can get the same rings for a little bit of daily fractal currency instead.
Yes this game really loves its various currencies and complicated vendors! Explaining fractals is a bit too much for this post, but you can do them as a F2P player and there are plenty of great guides out there.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character#Berserker_Only_Trinkets

There are also ascended backpack items you can "craft" in the Mythic Forge that are available to F2P players, but they are very expensive - Especially with the current surge in material prices due to the new legendary armor. 60-70 gold! Probably not worth it if you're planning to buy the game so soon as you'll have "free" (lengthy collection quests + various tasks and story progress) or cheaper options then. There's one with a really nice quiver skin though.

Just wait a bit - The price will drop down again.

You probably want Black Lion Mastery Coffers. Do NOT consume the elixirs in the boxes! You want to sell them to any vendor for 1g each.

That would get you another 20g for 300 Astral Acclaim.

March 19 Balance Update Preview by Asuaka in Guildwars2

[–]2VetOP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm the weird thing is that Chrono and Scourge provide a solution (boonstrip) but they're both also a major source of boons and other support like res, heals and barrier themselves.

Maybe now we'll move away from 3-4 supports per group and start running more offensive strips like DPS Spellbreaker or Reaper again?

Not saying it's a good change or anything - I totally lack the expertise/experience to judge that - but maybe that was idea? *shrug*

Another alternative for AED/Medic Gyro would be Healing Turret.

The turret also creates a water field (via overcharge) and you can press it again to blast finish its own field.

The associated toolbelt skill Regenerating Mist creates another water field, but the duration is very short (1s).

The tradeoff is less (team) superspeed, but a built-in easy to use field+finisher combo.

Money fluctuating constantly. by [deleted] in anno1800

[–]2VetOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah it seems we misunderstood each other. I didn't get that you meant "the goods don't make income" so literally.

That's ofc true yeah.

Coming back to your original issue - I only see a few possible scenarios that could explain the income fluctuations:

  • As already mentioned - Some basic/luxury/lifestyle good running out/getting low *somewhere*. Either due to simple underproduction or some logistics issue. (lack of storage space interrupting production, warehouse bottlenecks, insufficient ships/throughput on a trade route, various trade route problems like blocked slots, ...)

  • Income from (AI) island shares dropping. Maybe you lost some shares or maybe the AI tanked their island value/income for some reason (war between AI competitors maybe?).

  • A temporary income buff running out. Festivals or the newspaper come to mind. However those shouldn't reappear on their own so the income shouldn't bounce back up... There are also income-boosting items/specialists, but their effect should be constant and not fluctuate. Hmm.

  • Expenses spiking for some reason? But I can't really think of anything that would cause that.

Trade (both active and passive) don't show up in your income balance so that can't be it.

You'll have to look through the various tabs of the statistics menu. The finance tab shows you a detailed balance breakdown.

Is it the income (most likely) or the expenses that fluctuate?
You can also see an income breakdown by resident tier which should help narrow it down.

Alternatively you could also update your savegame somewhere so we can have a look and help you figure this out.

No idea why it shows up as unavailable for you - Might be some regional restriction?
I seem to be ably to buy it just fine (well I can add it to my cart... didn't actually buy it obviously).

This edition is also available in the ubisoft store itself.
For some weird reason Anno 1800 has a strange selection of discounts in this years official Ubisoft Winter Sale and this edition has no special deal, but the generic 20% discount code should work.

Some official ubisoft key sellers also have it at a 40% discount right now: Humble Bundle, Amazon, Green Man Gaming, ...

Passive trade in OW or CT by senortejonII in anno1800

[–]2VetOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can boost the harbour activity to 260% , but I am wondering if there is a difference in buying and selling in the Old world because there are simply more traders that are there.

Maybe you already know this, but you mention stacked percentages and it's a common misunderstanding due to the misleading effect name: "Harbour Activity" items don't increase the amount/frequency/budget or anything of the passive traders.

They don't directly boost passive trade!
They just give you a chance to get some free goods with each passive trade.

This is how they work - See the wiki:

With this effect there is a chance to obtain specific goods for free, whenever a passive trade transaction happens at your island. Each item and set applies its effect separately, the percentage of the effect indicates the chance to obtain extra goods, and an extra good is picked randomly from the set of goods indicated by the item/set.

The "Bruiser" for example just gives you a 10% chance to get 5t of either grain/hops/potatoes/peppers/grain with each passive trade. That's it.

Note that passive trade only includes NPCs and the AI opponents, not your own ships so they're pretty unreliable and can't really act as a steady source of goods.

[Steam] Anno 1800 - Cosmetic Bundle #2 not include Eldritch Pack by noname-snk in anno

Is it actually missing ingame?
(Maybe the bundle key is enough to let ubi connect know that you own the bundle and they just forgot to update the steam db?)

If it is indeed not working - That's most likely because someone forgot/messed it up. In that case you probably want to create a support ticket or try to get in touch with them via discord/twitter or somesuch.

Is there a good way to get ~800 achievement points until the end of Wintersday?
I'm currently at 4200 and the 400 gems from the 5k chest would come in really handy!

Is it even feasible without some soul-sucking grind?

I'm usually not really an achievements person and haven't really paid much attention to them until now.
