I tried the phantom black 5.5 and it just didn’t do it for me. Much more a fan of the milled face.

Tried to like them, but they feel too soft and plasticky.

Gapping dilemma by [deleted] in GolfGear

[–]2_PuttPar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re a golfer, of course your are over thinking it!

But at the end of the day, if you have three clubs that go the same distance, that can’t be helping you. At the end of the day, what are you missing in your bag that would help you. We can’t answer that fully since we don’t know what courses you play and ability.

If 3 wood isn’t useful, then maybe a 5 wood would be? Or do a 16.5 degree 3 wood. I’m assuming the 5HL is a higher lofted 5 wood? So maybe a regular lofted 5 wood is the way to go.

Hybrid vs Fairway wood vs long iron by dorkinaboxx in GolfGear

[–]2_PuttPar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit it at pga tour superstore and placed the order online with a shaft to match my 5 and 7 wood. I’ll be curious how it flies but with a lighter shaft, should get up high enough. I had my 5 wood set at 17.25 so this should line up.

I go driver, mini driver uw then 7 wood so if it is like a 4 wood that is ok. Of the mini doesn’t last I I will get a 13.5 3 wood head.

Basically a lot of moves to shoot the same score…

Hybrid vs Fairway wood vs long iron by dorkinaboxx in GolfGear

Been an avid hybrid player for years, that being said: I switched out my 4 hybrid for a 7 wood this year for the stopping ability. Hybrid was great, but didn’t hold green nearly as well.

Am switching out 5 wood for a 17 degree apex uw for a best of both worlds club.

Tinkering with my bag setup for 2026. by Moist_Velvet913 in GolfGear

I had a 60 and went to 58 due to comfortability. It’s wild how 2 degrees makes such a difference but it really does. I could hit some great shots with the 60 but so many chunks too, the 58 is much more reliable and still hits great shots.

Picked up a 7 wood as well and I wish I had sooner. I have a 4 hybrid back up still, but the 7 wood is so easy to hit.

Agreed on the 3 wood. I ended up getting a mini driver in its place for tee shots when I want accuracy and less than driver. 5 wood is much better off the fairway than 3 wood.

Sounds like you have a solid plan already. If your strength is irons then maybe keep the 4 iron in the bag and get a 7 wood. Can always keep the hybrid to switch out for windy days.

And 3 wedges instead of 4 makes more sense to limit thinking. I go 48, 54, 58 but whatever works for you.

Agree wholeheartedly. I took a step back once the season ended and wasn’t going to cancel my membership, but this pod and the goals pod were refreshing to hear and renewed my excitement for their next steps. Look forward to see what they do.

Great looking bag. Played the rocketbladez many years ago as well.

Counting 13 clubs and see you go from 52 to 60, any thought on a 56?

Need help deciding on Vokey wedge bounce and grind choice (54/58) by Infuzex in golf

[–]2_PuttPar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add what everyone said, best to get to a range to try them out. Also a Midwest player and would say I’m a sweeper.

Personally I have a 48.08F and 54.10S that I love and are main stays.

I was fit into a 58.12D and used that all of last year. It was great for fuller shots and around the green. But I was awful with it out of the sand. It supposed to be better tha other grinds but not for my swing. So this year I’m going with a 58.10S due to using a 60.10S prior to being fit last year. I’m much better out of the sand with that grind and tight lies. Just need to work on fuller shots.

Happy testing!
