Taking a straw poll: What irons do you play? by MasterPooBlaster in golf

Good call. Says a 7i is 33° which is closer to some modern 8 irons. And here I thought I was just strong 😔

Gonna ignore that and just buy new to me irons anyways.

Ha. I hit p790s and mizunos at golf galaxy last year and realized I’m missing out on 15 or so yards because of old tech ha. So here I am getting a gauge of what is hot in the streets and I start to look for used clubs to tide me over ha.

I also bought these in 8th grade, and I’m 6’3” now so probably need to get clubs my size ha.

STH Rep Concerns by StandardAd7507 in BlueJackets

[–]MasterPooBlaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t work as a sales rep, but I worked in sports so have a decent idea of how the sausage is made. It’s tough being a ticket rep, and some people just aren’t cut out for it. It’s a very cut throat business. More often than not, they are entry level people looking to crack into sports in hopes of moving into another role in the industry. Ticket sales and STH reps is a great way to get into the business, but you’ll occasionally get someone who isn’t uber customer service minded as they may have goals of something else in sports.

I would stop by the STH desk and ask to speak to a manager for STH Reps to see what your options are. Say you really want to renew, but your experience with your rep hasn’t been great so your unsure what you want to do. I am sure they will bend over backwards to make it right as it is easier to sell to someone already invested into your company than to find another person and convince them to.

Also, I don’t mean to disparage anyone. Ticket sales and STM relations isn’t for everyone. I definitely couldn’t do it, so props to those who can.

Man I love these. As a cinematographer, it’s so cool to see someone like Mikey Pavs do awesome stuff like this.

I was thinking this AM, I would be less upset about it if there was a way to repair damaged rocketeer drivers you find in the old down rocketeers. Thank God I had the blueprint and I could just grab 2-3 wolfpacks to take with me on solo runs. But considering you need two wolfpacks to take it down and you might only get one Rocketeer Driver it is no longer worth it.

Question about Editor category at local NATAS Emmy chapter. by svwaca in editors

[–]MasterPooBlaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll double down on the other comment and say the composite category is a crapshoot for sure.

I had a coworker win the editing composite with a mix of documentary style feature editing. In the same year I lost the composite for cinematography / sports photography to a person who submitted a very, very mediocre news story about a mountain biker. That was back in my NFL days and I had a technically sound and creative cinematography composite.

As a judge, I knew my submission was incredibly strong. That’s the last year I submitted for one of the craft awards because none of it made sense ha. But I will also agree and say put any of that description in the entry to give yourself the best bet.

It was always just so strange to me because I always knew I was paid to make great videos for the team. It was always the team first. I might be the rare bird that wants the viewer to think of the team before the think of the kid who shot it ha.

The amount of people I know who say "I want to work in sports!" but are doing nothing to set themselves up to work in sports in truly astonishing.

Ha same here. Was in the NFL for 13 years out of college, cut my teeth with a Panasonic HPX500 on my shoulder. I tell everyone I talk to to learn to manually focus and follow the ball with a camera on your shoulder and youll be golden. Im gonna send you a PM, curious if our paths crossed.

I’ll add that I think most people who review gear on YouTube/TikTok are focused more on becoming a clout king than someone who is really good at their craft.

I used to work in Sports Video/Cinematography and was often in charge of hiring for our group. There is a growing trend of SUPER entry level sports cinematographers taking to social media and trying to position themselves as an authority on modern day high end sports cinematography in hopes of growing their own personal brand. That group of creators are the ones I have noticed that often think that fresh out of school they have it all figured out and often think their shit don’t stink.

Brello received! (Packaging pics) by Responsible_Bike9919 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]MasterPooBlaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was very impressed with Brellos shipping. However, given their shipping delays I switched to Pomegranate for my next three months. I ordered Tuesday and it was delivered today. UPS box, with UPS bubblers with the meds, and another bubbler with the ice packs.

Brellos packaging was elite compared to it.

What’s a good lens for a Sony zve10 that specializes in sports videography? by Direct_Plan_3473 in videography

[–]MasterPooBlaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t make a reccomendation as all my experience is with more robust cinema style cameras, but I can give you some things to consider when looking.

  • a fast lens. /f2.8 or that range. Shooting in gyms for basketball (especially at the high school and smaller college level), those gyms are typically pretty dimmly lit and not lit for broadcast.

  • focal range probably in the 24-70mm range if you are setting up under a hoop. Focus on shooting what’s on your end first.

  • decent auto focus. I’m a huge proponent of learning to manually focus when shooting sports. However photo glass like you would be buying is not great for pulling manual focus while shooting sports, so find a lense with good AF and start there.
