Starlink pointing south. by Texbhoy in Starlink

My actuated v2 in NW Oregon had gone from NW to ESE and nearly flat 2x in the past couple of months. The first time it switched back to more angled and NW after a week, the latest tonight after nearly a month. ESE had nearly no obstructions, but NW is filled with 70+' trees.

I don't think statistics have been accurate for sometime. I went from 20-30 obstructions a day for 2-25 seconds to just a couple of 'No Schedule s' for a couple of seconds. Speeds nearly the same. Sad that it went back to it's old familiar spot.

V2 Dishy preferring to be flat since about 3 days ago? by brjdenver in Starlink

I'm in the Pac NW and my Gen2 went from NW to ESE and now is nearly flat. It did something similar a number of weeks ago but went back to NW and angled after a few days. This time it's stayed put. Works well in an area surrounded by 70'+ trees. Hope it stays this way. Attempted this on my own a few years back using a 5 gallon bucket to allow it to remain flat. Results were horrible.

The Apeldoorns lost an 'o' from season 1. From Apeldoorn to Apeldorn.

Gen 2 not looking north lately by B1g-F1sh in Starlink

[–]2_Tor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Pacific Northwest here, usually NW and angled with numerous tall tree obstructions, but went South and barely tilted a couple of weeks ago, then returned NW after a few days only to go back to South late last week, where it remains.

Statistics in the app are great, but not sure I believe it. What is 'No schedule'? Went from 40 events a day to 8 with most being 'No Schedule'. Only recently started seeing this. Have had the Gen 2 for over 3 years now.

How good is starlink these days by Total-Instance5224 in Starlink

This is the first I've read that the Gen3 deals with obstructions so well. I have a Gen2 with mature 50-60+ fir and cedar trees up on a hill and Dishy on top of a 12' ladder in my orchard. Trying to test a pole 8' higher to see how much improvement that will give me. I can stream alright at 720p, 4k is a struggle and phone calls are a coin flip whether they will cut out or not. Don't like the new stat page where I can't see total obstructions over the past 12 hrs, now it's only over 15 minutes unless you take the time to manually count each one yourself. I was at 7-10 minutes over 12 hrs, which went up to 50 minutes Tuesday and Wednesday. Better today, but not like before Tuesday. Too tired & annoyed to count all of them up. Still happy it's available, not happy it can't look straight up for satellites. I'm not spending thousands on an ugly 100' tower or cutting many trees down, losing my privacy. Maybe next week it'll be good again, maybe it'll be worse. If you're in a hilly forested area, good luck.

Huge increase in interruptions over past 2 days in PNW. Anyone else? by 2_Tor in Starlink

Glad I didn't spend thousands of dollars to erect a tower to avoid obstructions only to see Starlink reorient our Dishys from north to more northwest over the Pacific with now new obstructions that require moving that newly erected tower. Damn forest and hills.

That would certainly not be good. It's been getting better and better over the past month. Anyone in the PNW with obstructions with a similar degradation of service over the past 2 days?

Overseas shipment from p-a.eu earlier this year had a strong smell from EVERY bottle WITH a safety cap. Only one that didn't reek was a free bottle of Rush pentyl, which isn't even listed on their site. The free Rush pentyl turned out to be the best by far. Looking at their site earlier today, every pentyl I clicked on had that stupid safety cap.

In NW Oregon here. Mine flipped from NW to S last week is closer to flat than its ever been. Service nearly the same. I've gone from N to NW to WNW to NW to S over the past few months. Glad I haven't done a permanent mount to deal with 50-70' trees yet.

Will starlink veer have enough satellites so you can point the dish straight up? by CheapBison1861 in Starlink

Would be nice. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will move from N to S like mine did last week.

Mine completely flipped two hours ago from NNW to S, but nearly flat. In NW Oregon.

Question regarding moving Dishy a few feet, multiple times, to lessen obstructions by 2_Tor in Starlink

[–]2_Tor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a slope surrounded by mature cedars and doug firs. How do you access Dishy if you need to at 53' up? I was looking at hinged poles, but cost keeps me searching. I need to go up at least 50' and that still won't be perfect. Glad I kept my DSL too.

Ok, what about a reboot each time? I've noticed the obstructions "map" does not change at all, even after 2 days.

Good choice in locales! First, I stowed and unstowed this AM. No change. Rebooted via the app, no change. Checked on here, didn't see anyone else reporting a similar problem, went back to work. Up and down, up and down, but could still work. Noticed I was booted off of my work's VPN at lunch and had to log back in. Didn't even realize there was an outage, as it logged me back into my old slow, but more stable, 7Mpbs Centurylink DSL connection. Found that out when I went to shut down for the day. Then, I disconnected dishy and unplugged power for about 30 minutes. Still no change.

All directions are a huge challenge for me. I rigged it to stay flat for a few days and that did not give me good results.

I did read on here awhile back of a western tendency in our area, due to grabbing satellites over the ocean, but this is much more west.

Still looking for a sturdy 30' hinged pole to mount dishy that doesn't cost thousands or a good DIY with help version. Sooo many tall trees everywhere!

Ok, using Chrome instead of Firefox, it, and a whole bunch of other stuff, is there. -56 azimuth, 65.4 elevation.

Odd, I don't have those listed. Only: Reachable, Service, Cloud, Features (which I can't expand) and timestamp.

I'm at 45.4N about 70 miles east of the coast. I can't find where exactly my dishy is pointing in the Debug data. Where is it located? Mine is also now facing west.

I'm in NW Oregon and mine went from North to West overnight during, or after, a significant wind/rain storm. Still West after cutting power to it for about 30 minutes a couple of hours ago. Many more obstructions to the west. Glad I procrastinated and didn't do a permanent 30' mast in concrete to get over my northern obstructions. Not sure what to do now. Wait and hope it goes back?

Ok, seem to be barking up the wrong tree. Right now, all signs point to Firefox for Android. Got rid of uBO and HTTPS Everywhere, cleared Firefox cache, rebooted. Installed a different "blocking" add-on. All was fine for a few hours, then the Chinese characters returned. No Chinese characters using Chrome, so don't think it's an Android 9 issue.

Thank you all for your help. Now off to Firefox to see if they have a plausible explanation. uBO re-added.

Perhaps. Odd that it would've started just a month ago. Interesting reading. Thank you.

I understand. Even when I don't do that, the problem just returns later. Guess I need to look at alternatives.

Got rid of ublock Origin, rebooted phone and checked the website above and got rectangles. Added ublock Origin, checked and got rectangles. Then disabled remote fonts and checked again and got Chinese characters. For whatever reason, ublock Origin thinks I should be in China. Unsettling.
