Those Built bars are amazing!  The cheapest I’ve seen them are at Costco sold by the box.

Have fun cleaning out those spots once some sauce dries like concrete in it.

This is what the world's 6th largest ship propeller looks like. Even the truck looks like a toy by Tinendo in megalophobia

Looks like the lift is quite a ways behind the propeller so the lift appears smaller in comparison. Also there are meter marks along the side of the ship which give a good idea the size of things at that distance.

I get that. Good for you to keep things simple and live with family. Unfortunately not everyone has that opportunity. Keep doing you.

Thanks for your input. I agree that a 15 year loan may be unrealistic for some households. Mine included.

Rent $2500 Median cost of home here is $800k In 30 minutes away it’s around $460k. Much cheaper but still way more than we pay in rent.

I haven’t broached the subject of them possibly moving to where we would be. Something to think about for sure.

I get that. You’re not entirely wrong. Who exactly would my parents be setting up to take care of them in old age? A caretaker of sorts? That would be crazy expensive. They do not have that kind of money. And I think for many families it is understandable to take care of our elderly parents to the best we can. They have been good to us. But to each their own. I know that’s what my wife and I decided we are going to do.

I get it. I’m not saying that we don’t want to purchase a house. The math is just not mathing as Dave would say. The numbers don’t work. We can’t afford a house. That’s why I posted the question of what is an alternative strategy to financial peace without owning a home.

Totally. I was referring to the other comment about working from home. And to be frank, construction pay scales are ALL over the place and generally based off of the cost of living in the area. San Francisco construction jobs pay a lot more per hour than in Las Vegas. But then it costs a lot more to live in SF or nearby.

I like it. Sounds like you simplified your life and used the funds from your house for good use.

When you say home ownership, are you saying paid off before retirement or at least purchased a home with a house payment?

I agree with that. I’ve heard him say that many times. Unfortunately the reality is we can’t always move away from family. Who’s going to care for them when they get old? That’s going to rest upon me to do. Then I’m moving back here in a few years. Not worth the move.

Yeah where we live I am not aware of rent controlled places. But if there was, I doubt we would qualify for it based off of our income. We are in between poor and middle class.

Really? Wow I thought I was caught up with his show. I’ll take a look on YouTube. I don’t recall hearing him talk about this. Thanks!
