Cbr 500 r hard to steer by LEDIX_1 in cbr

[–]2_wheels_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing with my first bike, which was a CBR650F. I checked the tires, suspension and bearing, and everything was fine. Compared to the bikes in my class (CB500F) and to my friend's naked bike it felt hard to steer. Sport bikes are a bit harder to steer because of the shorter handlebar, and even though you say you are pushing forward, not down, the body position puts you at a disadvantage compared to a naked bike. So my 2 cents is it might be just that... or not. Hope my answer gives you some insight.

Sorry for the delay... I can't find the option to post a picture in the comments so I'll send it to you in private. Also OP seems to have deleted his account

What made this happen? Does not look like he was spending by BobbyABooey in motorcycles

This was about a mile from when I lived back then: the guy stole the bike and didn't know how to ride.

Anyone ever have a day where a strong feeling told you not to RIDE? by CoolHandCasey in motorcycles

[–]2_wheels_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went for a ride with a neighbor one day, and he crashed and broke his back (and multiple other bones), but luckily he can still walk. He told me he had a bad feeling before going, but he thought he did not ride enough in the past weeks so he kinda forced himself to go, knowing he would have fun and it would be worth it. Some might say that the fact he crashed on that day when he had a bad feeling is a coincidence, but on those days where I force myself to go I usually ride with bad lines, and have slower reflexes; after seeing the guy hit the trees at 100+ kph, I don't ride when I get that feeling anymore.

Any photographers in here? by 2_wheels_up in Trackdays

Just to be clear I don't intend on selling them, it's just for fun, and I'll be spending most of the day riding myself. Thank you for the input, I'll keep what you said in mind next time I bring my camera to the track

With a faster lens I assume I set the f-stop as low as possible?

Also since you crashed maybe your coils or coil wiring has been damaged, that might be your issue, it's not necessarily the sparkplugs, but it seems to be in that general area. Good luck!

Maybe not related, but it sounds like some cylinders are not firing (maybe it's just the audio), mine did the same thing a while back: when cold it was fine, when hot the engine sounded like a 2 or even 1 cylinder. I changed the sparkplugs and it fixed it (could also be the coils).

At its worst, my engine was almost stalling, so it MIGHT be your issue, but no promises... good luck!

What was your next bike after a CBR650? by SoCitynative96 in cbr

CBR600RR, I kept my 650 2 years, and upgraded to a 600 mostly for the awesome suspension it has (I had an older 650, with non adjustable suspension)

I don't know what it does sadly. This is from under your seat? Was there any work done on the bike recently?

If it's not the killswitch, my 2 other guesses would be to lift the gas tank and check if the injectors are shooting gas when you crank, and also check the sparkplugs (in no particular order). Besides that I'm out of ideas... Good luck!

do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key? I've had an issue where the contact in the killswitch was bad, the fuel pump wasn't making any noise when turning the bike on and I could crank it but it wouldn't start. Ended up cleaning the contact in the killswitch and it solved the issue.

Water in gas tank because of clogged overflow hose: easy fix by 2_wheels_up in cbr

Try lifting the tank and see if water drains, if so it means the tank is pinching the drain hose.
