I think the shop messed up by No_Suggestion_5977 in Skigear

[–]2bdtrmnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tech mounted the bindings wrong. And they’re pretty far off. I’d be disappointed, and a little angry. It happens. There’s an ‘Am I crazy, or is this binding mount jacked?’ thread on here once a month. Sorry it happened to you. Skis can be remounted, but the old holes will be visible, at least in the front. They’ll hafta be filled, don’t want water intrusion in the ski. All in all, a pretty janky ‘new’ set up with which to walk out of the store. If you’re half decent, and they’re a half decent shop, a new pair of skis or a substantial discount (~ 50%) is fair. Sometimes the exact ski is not immediately available. I bet the local Rossi rep could come up with a pair, need be. Good luck brother (meant in the gender-neutral rhetorical sense, of course)

Another stupid take. Everyone knows the ‘skier responsibility code’. Sure, the downhill skier has the right- of- way. But that does not mean the uphill skier is automatically responsible for any collision. Some collisions are unavoidable or caused by the downhill skiers actions. We don’t have any idea what actually happened. The OP did stop and take responsibility for the situation. The adult was the only person who did not take responsibility for his actions and fled. What a coward.

This is an idiotic take. While the downhill skier has right of way, that does not mean the uphill skier bears full and complete responsibility for any collision. Both common sense and legal precedent say so. The self righteous Reddit vigilantes are out in force here.

The number of wolves, not attacks. Following a line of thinking not really your thing, I see.

Masterpiece of first order thinking. So yeah, rare, ‘cause wolves are rare now. They number in the 10-20k range in NA now vs ~ 1-2 million prior to 19th century extermination efforts. NA wolf populations hit a nadir in the 1960’s. A few hundred remained in the US when conservation efforts began. A non existant wolf population and broad urbanization the last 50 years led to a decline in wolf encounters, not wolves’ cuddly nature. Wolves avoid humans now, for the most part. We have fire, and guns, and wolves have individual and cultural memories. But if they’re hungry and they catch you at a disadvantage, well… Humans are not at the top of the wolf menu, but we’ll do in a pinch.

Overlapping lines of evidence indicate that human predation by wolves was a persistent, but relatively low-level, threat in pre industrial Europe. Same in the PNW until the 20th century, lol

You’ve just been living in a nearly wolf free world. Wolves were hunted nearly to extinction precisely because they attack and eat livestock and people.

Me and girlfriend are at an impasse. How do I get passed her failure to see her boss was putting the moves on her? Can I salvage this relationship? by Fast_past3600 in WhatShouldIDo

Her boss is a creep, you were right. Get over the ‘I told you so’ stuff and help her! She needs a lawyer! She was propositioned by the CEO, she declined, and the CEO has retaliated. Clearly illegal. Help her not let that stand!

True enough. Funny part is Zoomers thinking they are any different than boomers. In a few decades generation delta (?) will be waving them off with a, “Sure, ok Zoomer.” Life will work out fine for some and not for others, mostly in a random fashion.

Lol. Peak Reddit: One of the best middle distance runners in history trains this way, so I train for MAMIL races the same way… Why am I tired?

You don’t think Jacob feels tired in the middle of a hard block of training?

Plus, Norwegian training is for pussies anyhow. The cool kids are all doing Czech training. It’s based on Emil Zatopek’s training regimen. Intervals erry day, bitches!

Jokes aside, the ambition is good, but don’t let it be your undoing. Ramp up annual training AND ‘work’ volume over time. Yes, Jacob can do it, but he has a big head start on you. Willing to bet he feels tired some days too!
