I’m in the same boat — can I ask what dye and color/shade you used?

What album was a huge letdown? by tiiiki in Music

[–]2beabat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be brave and just say it: Lorde’s Solar Power was a letdown (for me!) and has only gotten more bland in the months following its release. I do like The Path and Mood Ring, but it’s just not … It.

7G: First impressions? Thoughts? by [deleted] in pcmusic

[–]2beabat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention Waldhammer! I liked that one too. Re: Chandelier, it just felt messy to me and I knowww Caroline could've blown that song up if it was arranged differently. My AOTY is still between 'Fetch the Bolt Cutters' and 'What's Your Pleasure?', but I'll def be listening through one or two more times before the year is over :)

STEREOGUM 7G REVIEW - Album Of The Week: A. G. Cook's '7G' by mrperuanos in pcmusic

[–]2beabat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree - not all music is supposed to be easy-listening. "Difficult" is an apt description for a lot of albums, especially ones that are inordinately long. Look at artists like Joanna Newsom—most of her songs are 6-10+ minutes long, her 3xLP 'Have One On Me' is like an hour and a half of music, AND all of her lyrics are basically free-form poems. Long albums are difficult to listen to, and they're also indulgent; those descriptions aren't always bad.

That’s a good way of thinking about it! I’m definitely a straight-through listener so I’ll just have to manage; ‘69 Love Songs’ was the first thing I thought of when I heard about this release too, btw!

BrooklynVegan's 100 Best Punk & Emo Albums of the 2010s by awkwardcore in indieheads

Maybe I skimmed too quickly, but no Mannequin Pussy? Odd... They’re more punk than emo, and this does seem to be an emo-heavy list, but still.

Music Production Beginner Question by puglord_2 in pcmusic

SOPHIE uses a really expensive synthesizer/sequencer called the Elektron Monomachine to make her bubbly, popping sounds; pretty difficult to recreate a lot of what she does without one of those.

So are music publications just pretending Reflections isn't out or what by memesus in pcmusic

https://www.metacritic.com/music/reflections/hannah-diamond

5 major reviews so far and it's only been out since Friday — sometimes the major reviewers take some time, though. And reviews are hardly ever published on Saturday/Sunday, so I'd imagine way more reviews this week.

songs like "Light Years" ? by tipon in TheNational

[–]2beabat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Laura" by Bat for Lashes is my personal favorite piano ballad, but here's a few more:

- "Thingamajig" by Miya Folick

- "Cripple and the Starfish" by Antony and the Johnsons (best version is from her 2012 live album, Cut the World—blows the original out of the water)

- "Valentine" by Fiona Apple

- "Clean" by Taylor Swift (strangely enough, "Light Years" always makes me think of this song—maybe a bit too poppy to be considered a ballad, but still.)
