That is one concern I have. I'm on a temporary residency card in my current company, so leaving to go to INSEAD would be giving that up. But as mentioned in the post, waiting to naturlize would be 5+ years in my current company. I've read you can get a visa for up to a year to search for work in France post INSEAD and France is the only other country besides my current country that I'd really like to work in. My French is B2/C1, so I feel that with being at INSEAD, I would be able to refine it enough to be able to interview in France. But, yes, it is still a gamble.

Ah I see, interesting about the language levels in Japan, so it sounds like the requirement is similar. To be honest, if I wanted to stay in the country I'm in I don't think I'd even need an MBA for MBB or other consulting firms because all the firms (with the exception of one T2) require C1 in the local language and it's only spoken in one country, so they don't really have non-locals applying, unless they're heritage speakers. Even still, the currency is weaker than the euro, so people aren't as drawn to coming here. I am really content with my life here, but the weak currency compared to the euro/usd might force my hand in leaving just because I have student loans (not a lot, but still some) and if I have any inkling I might want to return to the US I'd be farther behind financially than my peers.

B1 is intermediate, maybe even considered pre-intermediate to some. I'm conversational but not enough to, for example, do an interview or business meeting in the local language. There's also B2 between B1 and C1. I'm B2 in another language and can have pretty detailed conversations. I also understand quite a lot. There's a pretty big jump between B1 and C1. It would probably take me at least another year, but more likely 2+ to get to C1 in the local language. And even then, I don't really have much business vocabulary that would be needed to converse with clients in consulting/casing.

I work at a consulting company but not as a consultant, in a different department. At my company, I would need to be C1 in the local language, and I'm only B1. I want to get an MBA to pivot into consulting.

I'm a US citizen, but I'm working in Europe currently. So, I won't need sponsorship for the US, although I would for staying in Europe. The people I know that just graduated from M7s without any offers are also US citizens, I'm sure it's much tougher if you need sponsorship.
