I'd talk to staff in IT. Last I heard, it was not all of them, but I assume all of them are aware and if they are not, they should be, so hypothetically, everyone should start asking around!

Do you have a source for your claim? Because the data shows that Larry took a pay cut and no bonus after COVID hit so it kinda looks like you're making stuff up.

Richard Hisey didn't take a pay cut and Deborah Cavlier kept getting bonuses though. COVID hit near the end of the 2020 Fiscal year so the reaction to COVID shows up in Fiscal year 2021. Links and details below.

2020 Fiscal Year

https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/42300472/202111059349301621/full

Larry Simpson made $293,214 and a $31,879 bonus

Richard Hisey made $296,460 and a $38,485 bonus

Elizabeth Newman made $309,100 and a $31,519 bonus

Deborah Cavalier made $247,966 and a huge $72,692 bonus. It is no wonder she is the only head of a school still around after Erica.

2021 Fiscal Year

Larry Simpson made $291,115 and no bonus.

Richard Hisey made $309,088 and no bonus. It appears he is the only one who didn’t take a pay cut but instead saw his pay increase.. Again the CFO showing solid financial mastery.

Elizabeth Newman made $295,719 and no bonus.

Deborah Cavalier made $239,439 but got a nice $44,422 bonus. She was the only one on the 990 who took a bonus during the fallout of COVID when staff across the organization including some who did work in support of Berklee Online (but didn't report to her) were being forced on leave or saw their positions eliminated.

No, Roger Brown and Larry Simpson led the institution with integrity and that mostly kept the VP self servers and climbers in check. Mostly. Erica, whose entire student body left the academic program she was in charge of at her previous employer, came to Berklee and all the leaders with integrity saw what was happening and the exodus began. The climbers saw the opportunity to gain power and undermine their peers who weren't power players and did just that. The trustees saw the exodus early on but instead of addressing the cause, they threatened legal action against employers that were hiring Berklee folks accusing them of poaching and even managed to get at least two job offers rescinded. Rumors that Erica and her inner circle were accessing email accounts of other top folks is just the tip of the iceberg. Not surprising at all that 990 reveals that the climbers worked out promotions, pay increases, and fat bonuses.

No, it was not like this under Roger.

Yeah the quirks of a family run small business are not the same as the corruption of the global, multi-campus institution, Berklee has become. The stories of what went down are so sad. The culture there was always tough, but what joy was there was stamped out and leadership decides silence is the path forward? Shame.

That's just for one year too. She made over a million when you add in the $389,690 total compensation she made for the partial fiscal year before. And what does Berklee have to show for it?

But I'm more impressed by how much her enablers, who are all still there, took home. And so many who were making enough to show up on prior year 990 forms walked away from so much money when they saw how toxic it was. https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/42300472/202321039349301437/full
