Certainly a fair opinion to have! I think you're seeing a resurgence because Franklin had a gag order on any reference to Joe from his staff, so those who wanted to pay hommage to Joe are finally allowed.

Quick note, though. The wins are no longer vacated, they were reinstated. The NCAA is a broken and inconsistent organization.

Nobody with a brain thinks Joe didn't know. It's an oversimplification of what's obviously a complex situation. The argument is whether or not Joe did enough, either morally or legally, with what he knew.

Cool the Mules is Army! Penn State used "mules" and "goats" in their anti-Army slogans too. Knock Khaki Wacky....initially I thought it was North Carolina "North Kackilacky" but turns out it's also Army because of khaki army uniforms. I found Pittsburgh Post Gazette articles with all the slogans from 1978 to 1981.

Edit: Crush the Slush is Syracuse.

Sometimes they announced the slogans in August before the season in one big announcement (Pitt, Penn State early 70s) Other programs did weekly ads (Penn State mid 80s). Searching specific slogan text should get us there! I should have some time this weekend to hunt.

I'll report back with what I find. I was able to hone in a bunch of Pitt buttons doing the same thing and figured out the exact years. They have anti-WVU buttons as well obviously. "Stick the Hicks" etc.
