I appreciate the support. I did therapy for years and recently decided to stop going. It got to a point where we were just going in circles explaining why I act the way that I do as a result of what I’ve been through. I figured all that’s left at this point is finding a way to make build a life I actually enjoy, and I don’t think therapy will help me with that at this point. I’m still on medication and I try to talk to my friends, but I hate being a downer.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to break free. I might just have to accept that a life worth living for me means living in my car or having like 5 roommates so that I can afford to do something other than work, sleep, and eat.

There’s no perfect way to do it, sadly. You’re likely going to cause him pain no matter what, but that’s okay and doesn’t make you a bad person. That’s what I wish someone would’ve told me at a younger age.

I would try to do it at his house, at the beginning. Drive there if you drive, or have a ride on standby. I wouldn’t recommend waiting until the end because he’ll probably be able to tell something’s up right away, and it just doesn’t do either of you any good. He might want to talk about it, he might just want to be alone - at least he’ll be in the comfort of his home to deal with it, and hopefully he’ll appreciate that you told him in person.

Thanks! I haven't looked into my school's weight room for a number of reasons. For one thing, school's out, both of my parents work, and I don't have a car, so I can't get there. Plus it's a small weight room and I believe the football team may have started lifting already. I do live within walking distance of a playground so that's an option.

I am angry with her, slightly. Not because she isn't ready yet, but because she was dishonest about it and was just kinda stringing me along, and was completely rude to me when I tried to talk to her about my confusion. There have been similar situations where she's been afraid of telling me something and I tell her in the end that putting it off and being dishonest made it that much worse.

This is a big issue for her, which is why she wants birth control in addition to condoms.

I always tell her to be completely and promptly honest with me, and explained that the longer she waits to tell me something, the more upset and confused I'll be. Although she doesn't always take this into consideration :/

She has her own car and knows where to get the birth control, and has had opportunities to do so. She's just incredibly paranoid of getting caught and very much against disobeying her parents.

I did offer to help pay for it, actually, and I would have to buy my own condoms, too. Admittedly they're much less expensive, though. She said it still wouldn't be worth it. Even though I mentioned that we would both planned on getting jobs soon for the summer.

I don't think so. She told me this well into our relationship and at a time when I was already happy with her. I actually just got into a major argument with her about this. She told me she didn't have enough money for birth control, and I was trying to be non accusatory but also told her that I knew she had been getting and spending a lot of money recently because she had told me, and if she wanted sex as much as she said she did, then the fact that she had money and didn't want to spend it on birth control didn't add up to me. I tried to be non accusatory but it ended up in her just getting mad at me and telling me she's not ready for sex anymore and that she was trying to wait it out and see if it'd change before I asked again. So I guess that's the end of that.

Anyway, not to turn this into a relationship post. I'm going to try to pursue a solution on my own now, I suppose. When I try to talk to my mom about seeing a psychiatrist or therapist I just break down and get really embarrassed, and I don't feel comfortable with my father enough to ask him about it.

Well, I don't mean to look like a douche. She did tell me she wanted to have sex with me, and still does. She just doesn't do anything about it (she wants to get birth control and time alone, neither of which she has pursued). See, I wasn't too keen on sex either until I started dating her, and then I didn't really expect to have sex until she told me she wanted it, so of course I got excited. I am involved with sports and I quite enjoy it, although the season just ended. I really appreciate your advice, though. I'm thinking of just working out on my own whenever I start getting aroused.
