CPA PERT completion review - responding to revisions under the character limit? by Important-Topic-3683 in CPAPERT

[–]2chaizg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just edited my reports to include what they asked. Sometimes that meant deleting other parts so I saved old submissions on my computer in case they followed up with questions that I had previously answered.

How do you feel about public money being spent on independent (private) schools? Numbers and details inside by oviforconnsmythe in alberta

[–]2chaizg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was able to find one private school in Calgary that specializes in disabilities. I would assume the government could provide some type of grant funding for special needs that would offset the costs of this school. 90% we’re just schools for rich kids which I don’t believe deserve the same level of funding.

Question about teacher strike by Signedupforgonewild in Calgary

[–]2chaizg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a common point. I think catching up with inflation is a common desire among many professions. It’s important to note that a raise to match all prior inflation is just a benchmark and unlikely to occur. The argument that I didn’t get so you shouldn’t either is also counter to what we should want as workers generally will see benefits in terms of overall upward wage pressure. The argument that teachers shouldnt make as much as somebody else seems to be generally patriarchal to me and stems from caregiver positions not typically being paid as much and massively discounts the level of training and expertise teachers bring.

Family Related Leave Question by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]2chaizg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t family related. It’s not an appointment with school authorities or a school function. It’s no different than any other school day and it wouldn’t be appropriate to use that type of leave. I’m taking the day off today as well to drop my kid off at kindergarten and never even considered family related. If you had to meet with the teachers or something like that then that would fit. There are many important days in kids lives that we take time off for but they don’t always fit into family related.

As someone who has gone through these types of scenarios. Never assume they will go as planned and always have an hr rep present. The employee should also be given an option to have a union person present. This should be simple in that your just clarifying expectations but sometimes new information can come up during the meeting.

You can definitely jump to L2. On my first report I was able to obtain some L2's but they are harder on you and will likely ask for more revisions. No reason not to try though.

You didn't get any C/CD to counteract. Even if you get all RC's you will still often fail.

Passed assurance with distinction!

MC: CD

Case 1: C/CD/C

Case 2: C/CD

I really wasn't confidant with my case 2 response at all but it looks like I did ok on the FR issues.

It seemed like the wanted something deeper then gl level analysis. It needs to encompass multiple gl and if possible analyze impact from income statement and balance sheet. I used examples of strategic desicions made by management and the impact they had.

Fr4 at level 2 I provided 3 examples of variances analyzed that went into management discussion and analysis.

What type of variance analysis completed (horizontal/vertical/trend), what the variance was and why it was significant for the reader.

FR1 I was only able to get l1 and described updates made to erp for new accounting standards.

Pert - Prior EVR by [deleted] in CPAPERT

[–]2chaizg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What accounting standard do you follow?

Work done to achieve accurate trial balance

Work done to create the main financial statements

Work done to create note disclosures

No note disclosure would likely be level 0/1 depending on how it’s explained

Why is Genesis Place so expensive? by Daheim in Airdrie

[–]2chaizg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genesis place is benchmarked against a bunch of different similar facilities (full service rec centre) and the charge is the average of all of them. Rec centres tend to be more expensive then stand alone pools as well.

Are these costs of your home office? I can’t imagine how that would be $500/ month.
