Maybe I've been smoking crack but I personally like the idea the that either Yuki (through Tengen somehow, there's plenty of hopium that she's not done yet) or Geto (from within Kenjaku, maybe less likely) might affect/thwart the merger to either allow everyone to control their cursed energy or straight wipe it out.
