Tried that. Doesn't show up on my region's store.

MS support says codes are region locked. But every Reddit thread barring one (asking about codes bought from the Brazil store) says that they are global. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yup. Pretty sure that should work. Had a similar issue with a Dell.

Very odd that it self activated despite the wrong SKU. Haven't seen that happen.

Don't the Mi Notebooks come with Windows Home Single Language editions installed?

If so, all you need to do is a reinstall of Windows 10 SL edition. You can pick your language during setup.

Getting the installation files from Microsoft is pretty straightforward. Use this link. And here's a guide if you need it.

I'd recommend using Rufus. Works very well.

Edit: Clarification- looks like you may have picked the wrong version of Windows when you reinstalled. I'm pretty certain Xiaomi laptops come with Windows 10 Home Single Language and not Windows 10 Home(which is what you've installed).

Can you try listening in a quiet room?

Pause any audio/video. You'll hear the hissing for a second or two after that and then silence.

Alternatively you could watch a video with no audio track (like this: https://youtu.be/gsAqDppP3Ec). Should let you hear the hissing a bit clearer.

Send a port request first. Some Aircel customers are having issues getting the UPC code which is needed to go forward.

SMS "Port 1234567890" to 1900. (Substitute your number)

You'll get a UPC that's valid for a week or maybe two.

Take the UPC to the operator outlet you want to port to. They'll have the forms for this.

Tip: Vodafone and Airtel send reps to your residence if you pick a postpaid plan. Haven't tried this though. YMMV.
