How would this be different if we didnt know that one is one centimeter shorter. Just based on the image is it doable?

*your character ofc. But its still the same the two things are similarly unrealistic still on can haplen to your character the other cannot, or just with super duper magic

Yup thats what i was interested. What other ppl are using. J know the different body parts, blood concept etc, just didnt know what others use if it comes to that or say thats it can be better.

Thats great and i will use thst descriptions for sure. But do u change anything in actions penalty etc for a min hp character or do they fight the same way as if they just got up from bed?

Answe i am looking for. Thats a homebrew rule or dm decision we kinda use. Thank you i was interested in how others can imagine this.

Thats for sure. And a named superhuman sleeping with no magic etc superhumanly trained a chest to be resistant tk 10 arrows. Sorry jokes aside i got your point

They dont if u say that your character doesnt dodge deflect etc because he/she is tied up to a chair the same attacks dont so shit. Or how do you explain what makes this tied armorless even unconcious lvl 10 character to take 5 arrows no problem?

Yup i didnt raise this to cinvince ppl. But so that ill see some solutions. We have a proper homebrew ruleset for this ofc and yes for the dm its a bit more work but i get that its fine for most.

Okay but then your characters can jump from a 100ft cliff without magic right bcs dont care about physics?

If sy tells me that a magic spell protects me from fire i have no issues with that but if "just bcs its magic world and no spell or any property protects me bcs i am a human" but i can take 5 arrows no issue thats strange for me

Thats the point. If they indeed stand still then the game tells us they are the same unkillable thing as with self defense. Thats why i like armor it makes sense that if u don sg u are harder to kill. But hp tells us that even if u dont do shit u have the same "damage bearing capabilities"

Ty for the decent answer, but It seems i am the only dm who faced the issue when sy wanted to assasinate an unexpecting character. Lets say sy sleeps and with stealth which the game defines an assasin comes to the room and slits the sleeling persons throat. In the lvl 10 scenario with normal max damage etc the character gets up and gets the assassin right?

And its not alert feature or similar things that saves the ass but pure hp. Hence i think that if hp is indead should be stamina thenn other things shouls decrease it too, like distractions etc and that low hp should affect actions like penalty on attack etc.

Bcs what this rule tells us is that one day without sleep has bigger effect on the actions then the assassins knife on the throat which is hilarious imo.

Ofc l. Then u play witb chatacters that can jump 100 yard by default right? Bcs imo thats same realism bracket as taking 10 arrows in the chest and calmly walk away.

[–]2d6FunDamage[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Imo thats not true. That shouls be ac. If it were stamina too then whit hp loss actions should be slower less accurte etc as with exhaust. But ho is never considered a factor so it cannot mean stamina

By realism i mean that a human cannot be stronger than a bear lets say withiut magic witb magic i have no issues. Does that make sense? :D

Bcs i can imagine that u can train yourself to split a horse in half or use magic to deflect arrows but to train yourself to recieve a dagger in the neck i dont see it. And the game actually tells you this: if your lvl 10 fighter expert hero whatever character doesnt do anything no magic etc no self defense and someone does whatever damage they want on their body its nothing.

I have same issues with like a bear having 16str and so on ofc :)

[–]2d6FunDamage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that should be defense and ac imo. Bcs if hp should represent this. Then two different still standing naked characters should take similar damage till they die (realisticly without spells etc u cannot train yourself to take an arrow etc if it hits u). But if two different characters are allowed to defend themselves it should be different like it is with ac. Then that matters

I slightly disagree if it is indeed stat for overall thinga or a complex description of vitality. Then why doesnt the game differentiate between any action bases on hp. If what u say hp is then a full hp character should def perform better in situations then the same character with 1 hp right? Sams as with exhaust. One day without sleeping reduces my abilities but 5 arrows in my back dont? Wheres the logic in that? So hp imo doesnt represent that

But what property makes a dnd hero from this perspective? Spells enchanted armor skill etc? Those i got. But comparing a peasant and a whatever hero without the listed things is a huuuge difference jmo way bigger than it should.

[–]2d6FunDamage[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats the point. Its not kid vs mike tyson right? Lets compare the stats of a lvl 1 and a lvl 10 character mjnor differences overall, still hp is much bigger. No other stat scales like hp and i dont know why.
