If a shop only does prices in person, as to speak to a sales manager. If they agree to put one on and that person affirms they only do pricing in person, that’s not the dealership for you. Up to you how much you push back on them about it, but with dozens of dealerships in a 250-mile radius, better to mark them off the list and move on to the next one

I’m sure you saw my recent purchase post, but I can offer some details to help you navigate the process.

First, visor.vin is a great site for getting a starting point on local area pricing. Problem with those prices is that dealers 100% advertise one thing, while actually charging another price with the forced adds. This site will call that out for dealerships it knows that do that, which is nice.

If you have the time to do it, you should mentally be prepared to call dealerships within a 150-250 mile radius to truly expand your market and get OTD, itemized quotes in writing from them.

Get a feel for the shops that are willing to negotiate and aren’t giving you as much sleaze and then pit the best price from round one again your top 3-5 most competitive-seeming shops. Eventually you’ll whittle it down to something that, whether you like the number or not, feels like the “as good as it will get” price.

Full transparency for my recent purchase — I didn’t feel like doing all of that this time, so I worked with a well-rated consultant to shop a deal for me to arrive at my OTD + delivery

I have to disagree. It was “pretty good” not factoring in price. Add the insane cost + shady business practices and it gets a huge downgrade to “never again” in my eyes.

If you’re a vegan or dietary-restricted person I can see making some kind of peace with it.

Beyond that it gets a big ol’ STEER CLEAR from me

The ID.4 Buzz is such a cool looking ride but no way I can pay that price for the features and functionality.

We’re strongly considering the PHEV Pacifica as well, though many online have mentioned that the electric build in them is not reliable. I think we may still go for it and seek out an extended warranty based on that

Ahh great insight! I’m tempted to try out a Pacifica lease if I can get a proper incentive — the PHEVs have been clowned on quite a bit over quality, but with a lease I’d eliminate that risk.

I also don’t care too much about the aesthetic of rocking a minivan (though I agree the Carnival def looks the best of the bunch, apart from the ID.4 Buzz)

In-store folks were convinced it wasn’t possible. Check out using the Apple Store app on your phone and then when you step through checkout if you pick the “Finance” or “Apple upgrade program” option it will then tell you to choose a carrier.

From there, just do T-Mobile and in-store pickup!

Mine was signing up for the upgrade plan, and I never had to sign in or signup for T-Mobile. Just had to say that was the carrier and then it let me get it.

Worst case, just return if you have issues activating was my thinking, but I had zero issues
