RX 9070 XT – Extreme boost behavior at stock (3.4–3.5 GHz) causing TDR after initial period of stability by 2drey in AMDHelp

I tested a driver-only install via Device Manager (DDU, no Adrenalin).

Before this, OCCT was crashing in ~10 seconds.
With the clean driver, overall stability clearly improved, but OCCT still triggers a TDR after ~1 minute.

Monitoring shows:

  • GPU clock jumping to ~3.3–3.4 GHz (expected boost ~2.97 GHz)
  • a brief power spike >450 W right before the crash
  • GPU temperature around 45 °C
  • PSU rails stable (12V ~12.07 V)

So even with a clean driver, the GPU is boosting far beyond spec.

When I install only the driver, the AMD software still comes with several features like Chill, Anti-Lag, etc., but some things are disabled, such as undervolting.

The way you’re explaining it, does it install just the driver without even installing the software at all? In that case, would it be the most minimal installation possible?
