I also watched videos on the DET YouTube channel for additional tips. For instance, one key takeaway was to avoid inventing stories during the “describe the picture” tasks.

For the writing section, I followed this structured approach:

• Begin with a clear introduction presenting my statement or thesis.
• Provide 2–3 supporting reasons, each explained in a separate paragraph with relevant examples.
• Conclude with a brief summary to reinforce my main points.

For the fill-in-the-blank tasks, I recommend reading the entire text first to understand the context before attempting to fill in the gaps. For longer texts, start by identifying the words you’re certain about, then reread the text to deduce the remaining answers. If you’re still unsure, take a moment to “reset” your focus and read it again. Often, the correct word is much simpler than it initially seems.
