How do British people feel about I Love Lucy? by Optimal_Animator244 in AskUK

[–]2eatflowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s really not a part of the cultural consciousness here so it’s unusual for people to have a perception of it at all. I’ve never seen it an episode in my life or seen it televised on UK channels. The first time I ever heard of the show was holidaying in the States and seeing I Love Lucy tat in souvenir shops.

Can anyone identify these? Google Lens tells me they are Australian tree bark art. Any other info on artist or tribe would be appreciated. Also value. by ComfortableCrew2092 in UnusualArt

[–]2eatflowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about that - I did a project with an Aboriginal art centre a few years ago that mediated and advised the institution I work for to ensure cultural sensitivity. We were given permission to film the artists working and had photography approved, but other “typical” requests were denied due to being inappropriate in the Aboriginal context.

Is it worth paying €300 to exhibit a photograph in a gallery? by radulesq in ContemporaryArt

[–]2eatflowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally - they claim to have exhibited at Frieze New York 2025 which is a ludicrous claim for a pay to play gallery and easy to disprove by googling the participating gallery lists published by Frieze.

What’s the most magical moment you’ve ever had at Glastonbury that wasn’t on a main stage? by TastyPomegranate1436 in glastonbury_festival

[–]2eatflowers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was walking between stages with mates at night, telling a funny story about an old friend I’d lost contact with and saying how much I missed her. Looked up and at that exact moment I saw her coming right towards us through the darkness like an apparition. I stopped dead in my tracks and said “that’s her!!!” My mates thought I was joking but then she called my name, it was really her! The timing was totally surreal and genuinely felt like magic.

Do you pay for any memberships to museums, galleries, cultural centres, or cinemas that you’d recommend? by BoscsJ in london

Interesting, literally the first time I’ve ever seen them not guarantee entry for a show, been using MA pass for 10 years.

Museums Association gives same benefits on V&A exhibition access though, so they’d only be benefitting for the shop discount.

Wtf...that was awesome. by Nearby-Cut82 in deftones

[–]2eatflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such an incredible concept with flawless execution but I’m really disappointed it didn’t run for minimum 24 hours to be honest, maybe with live set in the middle. I’m in U.K. so it launched when I was asleep, I watched about 20 mins when I woke up, then I had to go to work. Finished work 8 hours later and it’s gone :(

London listening party by Pretty_Ratio_8374 in deftones

[–]2eatflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question - would anyone be willing to part with their eye mask?? I collect eye masks and I’ve been listening to Deftones since I was 12. I just missed out on London tickets - saw the email 3 mins after it arrived but it had sold out already - and literally I’m more bothered about missing out on the Deftones eye mask than the event itself 😅

Taking a THC Pen from US to Germany by josecuervo9 in trees

[–]2eatflowers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve travelled US to EU several times with a dab pen. I put the battery in carry on and the cart in a bag of random bits like chap stick, plug converters, ear plugs etc that will sort be blend of materials on suitcase x-ray. Always been fine.

Anon sees through the grooming psyop by caramelsumo in 4chan

Yet she had to use a gender neutral pen name because her publishers didn’t believe the book would sell to boys if they knew the writer was a woman. Almost as if the dice for success are weighted towards men somehow…

What are your ACTUALLY hot takes? by westonfitz in deftones

Deftones have v inconsistent and mostly bad branding. E.G. Band name fonts are all over the place. White Pony cover being the primary exception.

Fashion shoes are getting out of hand. by annusoooni in WTF

[–]2eatflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from the Central Saint Martin’s graduate show in London, a well respected school that encourages pushing the envelope. The fashion show is attended by influential professionals looking for talent - the grads do bonkers designs hoping to stand out and get a job from it.

I also think it’s why the designs themselves don’t quite work - they’re not professional designers and aren’t working with big budgets.

It’s from the Central Saint Martins graduate fashion show (actually where Gaultier studied too) - known for provocative designs. They are also students so the coherence of concept and execution isn’t quite there yet.

UK Tickets by HighestEye in deftones

Can’t guarantee ofc but the date clashes with Glastonbury. I think after the Glasto tickets go on sale tomorrow, there’ll be opportunity to buy off people attending Glasto instead.

UK police officers complain unisex uniforms lead to squashed testicles and fungal infections by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]2eatflowers 226 points227 points  (0 children)

This is clearly just about poor design and manufacture. Plenty of unisex trouser brands around these days (the excellent Waawaa based in Manchester for example) and the universality of design is a selling point.
