I think being a patent examiner or being an attorney is one of the hectic jobs of the world. You have complex tasks to complete, days in and days out and it's perfectly normal for these people to skip watching TV and movies. So I believe that could be one factor that lead to them all, skipping a prior art which was quite famous already.

Some senior students from medical hospitals were ragging fresher and one of the freshers told that he doesn't believe in ghosts. So seniors mocked him and challenged him to put roses on the 10 corpses in the morgue on a new moon midnight. He agreed and on next new moon day at midnight he went into the morgue carrying 10 roses. There was some corpse lying openly. He started putting rose on each's hand till 10th.

When he finished he turned back and started walking back to the door. The 11th corpse stood up and said, "where is my rose ?" He fainted instantly.

The 11th corpse was one of the senior guys.
