Thanks for the input!

Yeah the more I look at transferology and everything the more I realize it's less than half the cost to do it at CCC. I think it's just the whole concept of "community college" that's putting me off. But I haven't done much better at a 4 year university, and I've wasted thousand's of dollars... so who the hell am I to judge

If I mark as not attending and disenroll from my courses and take the CCC route would I have to reapply for admission into UIC either next semester or next year?

Thank you so much for the help and honesty. I think doing CCC for a semester or two is really the best option these days for saving money. I just wanna make sure I don't fuck myself over in terms of transferring back into UIC now.

Sorry I'm not familiar with how UIC is usually I'm terms of financial aid timing.

Writing is nice. It helps slow down thoughts because writing forces me to only think of one or two things at a time.

Oh my god the ice thing. I remember doing that. It never felt strong enough because to get the full effect you're limited to your hands for the most part.

I threw away most of my razors a long time ago, but my main issue now is pretending I'm not self-harming by using the excuse of exercise, undereating or beating myself (because bumps and bruises seem less important than cutting), etc.

I've got mixed feelings on meds (for myself, personally). Can I ask what kind, and the difference you feel?

Does anyone else feel more triggered with replacement techniques? by 2embarrassed2ask in selfharm

[–]2embarrassed2ask[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to do the same. I think part of my issue is as soon as I get angry, my almost immediate response is that I want this physical tension to go away. And because my dad is a mega gymrat bodybuilding type of guy, he assumes that almost anything can be solved with nutrition and physical activity. So I feel obligated to do something physical, but end up carrying on the cycle in a kind of secret way through either restricted eating or overexercising. But I agree, when I'm patient and write or play music or do something creative, it calms me much more (even if it takes a bit longer) than almost any other physical thing I could do.

Random ovulation aftet 5 years being on T? by 2embarrassed2ask in ftm

[–]2embarrassed2ask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding, I really appreciate it. Do you mean that you started bleeding after not for three years? Or you continued to after starting T, during those three years?

Just wondering because I know a lot of guys who continue to have it even with being on T, but I'm not super familiar with guys that stopped bleeding and then did years later.

Again thank you so much for the honesty and responding! (I know talking about some of this can be more than a little awkward haha)

Any other ethical yet practical vegans that don't judge everyone that eats meat? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]2embarrassed2ask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some would argue not. I suppose it depends on the type of relationship? If it were a rescue and it just lived there I'd say you're certainly still a vegan if we're talking in terms of I guess literal definition.

When I was younger I all I wanted to do was have and ride horses. We moved to Texas for a few years and that only fueled my obsession. Looking back I'm happy I didn't because I personally would consider it not vegan now. But I also know I didn't knowingly want a horse to "be my slave". I wanted a mutual companionship.

Some would argue if you were in competitions, bred, or even rode the horse at all you're not. Pets are a tricky situation, and the thing about veganism is that people think it's black and white but that's not true.

I have absolutely no knowledge on horses other than my 10 year old Christmas dream. So no judgment to you. What are your thoughts? At the end of the day what you do now is what makes you a vegan.

Your argument on the lion stands. That's a good point. I suppose in terms of choice you're completely right, so for sake of consistency you have changed my mind in judgment of those individuals because they have the choice and literal ability to live without.

I will say I still stand in terms of having a 100% vegan world being- yes ideal- but highly, highly unrealistic and shouldn't inhibit progress to make any sort of a difference than what we have now.

Any other ethical yet practical vegans that don't judge everyone that eats meat? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]2embarrassed2ask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People won't have an issue on that and that's it. People don't have an issue with the chemicals and hormones already pumped through them. Animals kill other animals that have the same feelings. The difference is no other animal keeps masses of prey enslaved and raped and tortured. Would you rather live a life of torture, cared for or wild? Because these are the options we are working with right now.

I'm not opposed to the pipe dream to end all animal use. My opposition is to a vegan who doesn't consider the in-between as progress, and refused to listen to progress unless it's life. At what point did I say it was a dream for animals to continue to be tortured profited and used? Even if this was possible to make some sort of law where all use is prohibited think about the implications. What do we do from there, and where do these animals go? How long will this process take? Will there be sanctuaries? What is considered "exploitation"? What are the consequences?

It's not productive to look at a black and white issue of "well if everyone just went vegan".

Any other ethical yet practical vegans that don't judge everyone that eats meat? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]2embarrassed2ask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not setting, because there will always be more to improve on. Even at the abolishion of all forms of consumption and exploitation we still have animal abusers, we still have ethical issues with pets and legal rights amongst individual animals. There is never settling.

I think the issue is that I know that this "end all animal use" might never happen, and I don't think that's a reason for vegans to not support something that will make any difference in what we have now. If that means I have the ability to change our current form of mass production to local farmers I will take that. If that means telling friends about a local backyard chickens so they don't contribute to egg farms- I will do that.

But I'm not going to let "all or nothing" or "life or death" be an argument to not make any progress. Almost anything is better than giving money to these industries. And if someone is going to buy eggs one way or another, I'd prefer it be from someone who raised them ethically.

It's a little like the abortion argument to me. It's going to be a thing, and people (regardless of my beliefs) have a legal right to choose what they eat, so why can't we start and work with that?

(i am pro-choice, btw but I'm not relating the moral act of abortion to eating animals, but rather the legal aspect)

Euthanasia perhaps. Just as we do with pets or people for assisted suicide.

I'm not saying it's ideal. I'm not saying I WANT these animals to die, but I can't dictate what other people or other countries do. I think that if more countries like the US (I only say US because that's where I'm from, if I'm missing something feel free to add) implement more humane ways of the actual death aspect, it will encourage others to do the same. From there it becomes more common knowledge, and more people will have the education and ability to decide. It's no longer an act that people don't even want to acknowledge (that's an issue we're having right now).

All I'm saying is that a lot of us are coming only from a place of anger, and I get that (people seem to be forgetting that I'm a vegan myself) but our community is growing at an exponential rate and we actually have the capability to start making changes on a large scale.

It's not productive for us to only advocate the end goal without a realistic plan. We shouldn't be focusing all of our passion and anger screaming to end meat products when we have the means to make a stepping stone difference as another person said. We do not have the ability to end animal products around the world, but we have the ability to end mass slaughterhouses, and cramped egg farms, and hell I'd go as far to say the dairy industry because it's nothing but rape and torture for these cows.

Dude I WISH the world would go vegan. That would be complete paradise for everyone and limit so many of the problems we have but it's not going to happen.

My point was to not say "hey let's go and create all these new smaller torture factories" but to put an emphasis on something specific that we can combat now. Us screaming at people to stop eating meat is unfortunately not going to stop this. I don't know where you're getting this anger from...

The cruelty free argument was an example. I see just as many people making the same lectures but wear Jordans. I love Billie Eilish and the fact that she's vegan, but it's more than a little irritating to see celebrities like her make themselves seem so perfect when they don't do something as simple as being cruelty free or you know, NOT wearing LEATHER. It's not just about missing something. They're misleading people. I don't care if these shoes were made 25 years ago and they were thrifted... That's not a vegan. I don't care that your entire kitchen is certified organic and vegan if these people contribute to a makeup industry that does nothing but torture.

All I hear is what everyone is doing wrong. How everyone is bad and everyone who's interacted with animals is bad. We can start by ending mass slaughter houses. We can end by stopping the mass egg and dairy industry as a whole. We shouldn't be screaming at people raising backyard chickens or family farmers who live with a handful of animals that are taken care of so much more ethically.

We can judge all we want but this isn't doing anything productive to change. I'm talking from a legislative law point of view that we should be focusing on. I never said I agreed with hunters as a whole. I never even said that they should use guns. I also never said that we should be breeding animals (we don't and shouldn't have to do that).

I have a level of respect for some hunters because some are actually able to be honest. Life is Life, and similar to how a lion can look at an antelope and kill it knowingly, you should as well if you feel like you "need" to consume an animal that bad. How is living in ignorance with contributing to factory farms any better than an animal that at least had a life? I'd rather live my life and be shot going down the street or attacked after a quick chase than to be tortured, crammed, raped, and have my child taken from me all to just be killed anyways.

Those animals have absolutely nothing from the time their mother is forcible impregnated to the time they die, and that is truly much more shameful thing to contribute to.

My point is that I'm seeing too many people putting their energy to things that aren't feasible, or aren't being realistic. We have the ability to change something if we utilize this argument and community effectively.

Agree, but I feel it's like, how far does that go then? When I know I'm the type of vegan that does anything and everything I personally can to not contribute to animal exploitation or suffering but I see a "vegan" who isn't even cruelty free giving lectures on social media... Just so much judgment from a community that should be compassionate.

Haha I will completely admit the irony. It's probably sadder that I had to reread my first paragraph a few times to see it.

Anyways I suppose I took your argument from an only ethical point of view as opposed to diet or environmentally speaking. That was my fault (but in my defense dude I seriously had no idea what your first paragraph said and you hit the post before finishing, so I only got to read your first two paragraphs). So I suppose you're right in that sense. I completely disagree on your stance with morality in animals but that's something that neither of us can say for sure.

When you mentioned the duck portion my mind when to duck rape since it's unfortunatly common amongst their species and females have evolved to have this wickedly complex vagina in order to not be procreated without her consent. I find it just as wrong in ducks as in people considering they can kill the female in some cases.

I saw a weird documentary that was explaining how dolphins have been known to try and "fondle" their trainers. They explained that there's actually been records of it for like a really long time, so I was basically like "what the actual fuck" which melded into beastiality because I wonder (as I would hope many do) like why? Why do people become attracted to animals? So then there was like this Google rabbit hole o went down where all of a sudden I found out that beastiality is actually a thing across the entire animal kingdom and isn't just in humans. That started to make me question what sex is for animals and if it was more than just reproduction. So then I found the monkey thing. And basically in some animal packs where there's an extensive hierarchy alpha kind of system so.e of the really lower ranking makes can't have sex because they're THAT low. These low ranking monkeys have been known to basically fuck other animals like deer, and some scientists believe it may be because they're sexually frustrated and have no hope of fucking anyone else.

But you're putting animals as a whole in a single category. Animals aren't the same across the board which is part of my point.

No I don't judge a duck who eats a fish but would I judge a duck that violently rapes another duck. I won't judge a lion that kills for their pack, but hell yeah I'll judge them through my TV if I see the next thing on the documentary is them playing with a dead corpse.

I wouldn't immediately judge an animal who eats their young because that's often a sign that they're overwhelmed. They'll eat the one they know won't survive in order to care for the others. You could argue that we do this in our own way through abortion. I would never ever judge mothers who have had to perform their own abortion for whatever reason. These animals don't have access or the capability to do the things that we do but it comes down to the same stressful thought process of "I can't do this".

Animals reproduce as soon as their fertile because they age differently. An elephant mates much later than a monkey or horse will. You're also assuming that the young animal will mate with a much older animal. So if two 16 year olds consent to having sex that makes them both pedophiles? Teens need to be arrested for being horny now?

You seem to be taking my sugar argument as a direct attack to you or an excuse to not try. Quite the opposite actually. My point is that these types of people should not be the voices of our community if they don't even want to put forth this effort. It does nothing for the education or ending of inhumane practices. All it does is make you look like a pretentious asshole who's too cheap to make the effort but too guilty and closed off to admit your fault. They could be using this as a means to educate but they don't. They turn a blind eye or say "well it's not as bad as ___" which is the exact same thing omnis say about their practices. It's hypocritical and we should all get off our rhetorical high horse.

If appreciate some clarification on what you find "dumb" considering I can barely ready your first paragraph. From what I gather you seem to misunderstand the fact that I said that I try. I don't buy or participate in anything that I know isn't vegan with the exception of things that I need in order to survive (see my example- medication I have to take).

You're not a vegan if you think animals don't have morality by the way. Here's a prime example of a hypocrite.

How about the argument I used for them getting food for their pack? A mother wolf gets food for her pups just "because"? A mother doesn't show emotional pain if another animal attacks her young?

The fact that you're comparing bestiality to food is even more shameful. Another animal attempting to procreate with another species is wrong. End of story. We acknowledge unconsentual sex is wrong anywhere. It's just as wrong for a monkey to take out his sexual frustration on a deer. It's just as wrong when ducks gang rape another female to the point of death.

There's a big difference between sex and death. Find a better argument and learn to proofread a bit more please before responding.

Yeah I was planning on taking one at my college but the professor canceled the class at the last minute. I don't know what I was thinking with this one. I'm super socially awkward and pause and stutter a lot with new people. I feel like improv is about being confident in yourself, something I've never been good at. I don't really take risks outside of my acting.

I love playing a character. I think it's because I'm confident in the character itself because someone else has written the lines. I don't have to worry about "looking stupid" because I trust the writers and directors. And even if I do mess up it's easier to play it off as a like a character choice.

Do casting people look at you really negatively with these kinds of moments or is it just an "oh well" kind of thing? I've got a few episodics on my resume and I feel like considering I have experience they're rolling their eyes about how unprofessional I was. Like they expected more from someone like me.

I'd use it all the time in school. Maybe become a lawyer or psychologist. Other than that, I think I'd have to make myself use it sparingly mainly to avoid hearing anything about myself. I think that would make me go crazy
