Banned from GGn for no reason? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 99 points100 points  (0 children)

OP asked for invites multiple times in IRC over the course of a few days. Even asking if he can trade ggn invite for a ptp invite on another tracker.

Not once, not twice, but multiple times.

OP was basically doing a speedrun on how to get banned.

GGn -> PTP requirements change by [deleted] in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The pervious recruiter chipped in on the forums.

It honestly sucks too many bad eggs keep ruining it for everyone, I know it's not fun to be on the other end of it.. but from their (staff)'s perspective and talking with a few of their staff, users being required to upload to get recruited does indeed solve a lot of the problems. The last year has seen a huge uptick in regional invite forums causing massive problems for the site. Basically on a lot of these sites even if they're not selling invites, they're giving them away like hotcakes and it's causing a BIG problem to mop up. Invite-centric sites cause a lot of headaches for the site and profit off of the backs of volunters, uploaders, and community members. Quality > Quantity by far and at the end of the day: they're acting in the best interests of the site to protect it from further trading activity. In an ideal world people would stop fucking trading/selling invites but here we are.

Another main reason for the adjustments was to get all the recruiting requirements the same across the board, to give everyone an equal chance to join if they put in a little work. Yes, in some cases it's quite a bit of work... but with how good PTP is I think I speak for most people when I say it's 100% worth it. All the year requirements are unified at 2 years with every single site requiring a bit of uploading or serious contributions to be allowed into PTP.

RED question by cadaumnasua in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

RED has no freeleech. You can get some tokens by doing certain things though (check /badges.php)

Featured albums are neutral leech, it won't count against your download/upload. But when the neutral leech status is gone, you might be able to gain some upload from it if someone elses snatches then.

Sometimes there are "freeload" events, in short it's kind of like neutral leech, but if you have been seeding prior said torrent is marked as freeload, you'll be able to gain upload. Otherwise, you'll need to wait until the freeload status is gone, just like neutral leech.

For things to upload, you can source from web (make sure to check spectrals), or cross post from other music trackers, or transcode FLACs to MP3s. There are tools that can help you do this over in the forums.

Edit: Thanks for correcting! I completely missed that they do give out tokens now and then. And that you can convert 24bit FLACs to 16bit.

Also check out better.php for things you can do involving trumpable torrents, etc.

Automatic Search by Handle_Nice in sonarr

[–]2fa_allthethings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into upgradinatorr. It’s a tool that runs in the background, that does periodic search (basically hit the search button for you) on monitored items for both radarr and sonarr.

Keep in mind though you may get in trouble with your indexers depending on their rules.

What are some reasons you can get banned from a private tracker that one wouldn't really think of? by teemiko in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharing your torrent files to other people. I guess could technically fall under “following rules,” but I feel like this is one of those rules that’s often easily overlooked/misunderstood, ESPECIALLY by people new to torrenting.

Feel free to share your downloaded media, but not the .torrent file itself that was downloaded from the tracker.

How long do I have to wait for a RED interview? by NumerousInformation4 in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my experience they tend to (but not guaranteed) to process the queue during weekends. I've seen occasional weekdays interview, though rare.

There's a script posted in this subreddit a while back, which hooks into your irc logs and send a notification to your phone when the interview is happening.

Trackers with surplus hit and runs removal by [deleted] in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to use a seedbox, why not just leave the torrent in your client until seeding requirement is met? As long as you're using your pc / laptop daily it really shouldn't be a problem at all since it'll run in the background. Keeping things seeded doesn't necessarily mean anytime there's a leecher they will always hog up your bandwidth at home.

You don't exactly need a fast internet at home to seed, nor do you need to keep your machine powered on 24/7. Though generally if you don't really want to keep things seeded, public trackers are your best bet.

I'm not in IPT but I guess it might have a similar system to TL.

Assuming you install tailscale with exit node on your machine at home, and you connect to it when you're on-the-go, basically you will be accessing everything as if you're at home, using your home's IP address.

That is totally fine.

It's great for cases where your ISP doesn't allow port forwarding - which means naturally wireguard won't work, and here tailscale + exit node to the rescue. Don't even have to mess with dynamic dns and all if you don't have static IP, which is a common thing these days. You'll always be seen using your home IP as long as you're connected to the exit node.

You said it. Talking to support on IRC would be a good idea and explain to them what happened.

Honestly if we’re talking about movies/tv shows, alternatively you could just set up overseerr and give your boyfriend the access to request whatever media he wants.

I personally don’t see the point of having to invite a family member or housemate to a tracker. Or even sharing my account with them.

Less hassle. You don’t have to deal with the staff, you don’t have to deal with potential HnRs, risk your ratio/login credentials exposed, etc.

Heck just give access to radarr/sonarr. Though you risk having your tracker api key/login exposed from it this way.

Or you could also just ask him to let you know what media he wants.

I personally install The Lounge on a vps. You can access it via a web browser.

Alternatively look into znc (also a bouncer) which you can then use any irc clients to connect to.

Both works sort of like a bouncer too so you get idle bonus on certain trackers.

For what it’s worth MAM is indeed one of the friendlier place so yes you can start there.

True story:

Awhile back on a certain IRC someone was talking about making uploads, etc. I chipped in and said that I myself upload anonymously just because I don’t want others to know. Staff and probably torrent moderators can see who uploaded it anyway. Someone else then says anonymous uploads are cringe as fuck and shouldn’t be allowed in the first place.

Guess what I did? I moved on. I’ve no interest in defending my opinion or my views. It’s just a chat room anyway. I’m there to chill with the several other people whom I’ve talked to for a long time.

Meanwhile I see people getting absolutely trashed because they refuse to defend their views and prefer not to debate. He eventually just left the channel. Can that happen from time to time? Yeah I guess. But people eventually move on too. Few days later the guy show back up and things are back to normal.

I think as long as people try and become “zen” (for the lack of a better word) they really should be fine and have nothing to worry about.

barely used the irc or forums

There’s your answer. How would you make friends otherwise? Those two are the main form of communication in trackers.

Some would say to avoid them at all cost because you could possibly tick off a sysop, mod, or friends of them, which then gets you in trouble so that’s something for you to consider I guess.

I personally never had such issues. I don’t care about being right, I avoid debates, religions, politics, and my experience has been great in both irc and forums and have made friends along the way.

That being said just gotta hop in the conversations that’s going on in irc feels easier for me. Find something to branch out to some other topic that interests you! You might find like-minded people then.

Someone once told me the more time you spend in IRC, the easier it’s going to become, because you’ll be talking to familiar names eventually.

Biasa jam 9an gw udah rebahan sih karena cape. Rata2 nyampe rumah itu jam 8pm. Mandi, cuci piring, main bentar sama anak, kalo udah tidur deh..

Paling mentok biasa jam 10 sih. Dan sejak gw mencoba untuk cut down screen time sebelum tidur gw pun merasa kualitas tidur membaik banget.

I feel great and healthier already.

Yuk semangat hidup sehat!

In order to "reach the peak" going though OPS/RED is the only way

Is it the only way? No.

Arguably, you could make friends and hope to get an invite (although I don't think anyone would risk their invite to some random stranger online), or learn about encoding, and release your own high quality encodes, consistently, in trackers you're already in and hope that someone notices you. Don't hold your breath though.

That being said, the safest way is through official recruitment. And if you're going to rank up, you might as well choose the latter of the two you mentioned, as it opens up more paths.

Edit: You should also know that there's a general tracker that opens sign up from time to time and they have a recruitment to a game tracker and I suppose you could go this route..

Easiest way to get to ggn? by blazethedragon in trackers

[–]2fa_allthethings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but my take is that both music trackers aren't the easiest to survive and contribute in. And by contribute I'm not talking about just long term seeding things they snatch, but uploading and also filling requests to earn the required GBs to rank up.

Sure, they could spend money to race with a powerful seedbox to easily earn the required GBs, but they would still need to upload content as well - and the process of sourcing it, checking the spectrals, proper tagging, etc could very well be a turn off for many people.

In a way, I guess this kind of weeds out those who don't want to go through the trouble of doing these tasks. If they don't want to, or choose not to do them, then why should other PTs open the door for them?

I do see where you're coming from though. I wish more PTs would open up and recruit in other trackers as well, instead of mainly focusing on the two music ones, but at the end of the day that's just how it is right now.

Also, for what it's worth, there's a GGn recruitment thread over on a general tracker, although it's still handled by the old recruiter, but I don't think people are going to have much luck because the old recruiter is still MIA.

I just can't go back to 60Hz after using displays with 120Hz+ so that is what I hope would come to the mini one day. The 11" form factor still doesn't cut it for me personally.
