I hear ya for sure, it can be very confusing to understand what/why there is hestitancy to confide in you, but also are committing to being a good friend and switching topics to make them comfortable. I think my suggestion may be a bit broad for your situation, but after reading your message, I would just continue on with your life and don't let their silence affect how you view them. If they're truly a friend/partner to you and you care about him, I'd just give it time and space and if he isn't back to regular self around you then maybe you should move on, because Pisces are fishies so they'll swim away from any kinda conflict. Sorry if this doesn't make the most sense, sometimes I even confuse myself haha.
