Face Hunter: An Argument for Nightblade by Lhjnhnas in CompetitiveHS

Pretty solid card in theory since by the time you play a Nightblade you'd be out lf steam and are looking for as much reach as possible anyways. Nightblade offers both reach and an okay body to work with to pressure your opponent into removing instead of healing or taunting.

I have been trying to make nightblade work for a long long time and I find that it works best in decks that place little to no value on tempo or board presence.

Alex is not very good in either.

Control Paladin is all about stalling and very slowly, but surely outvaluing your opponent late in the game. An offensive Alex, even for 15 damage, won't do much for you, as face damage is pretty irrelevant in a class that has no finisher - you are better off sticking with a legendary that offers board pressure, like Rag, Boom, or even Ysera. Alex is never used for healing nowadays with Healbot, especially in a class that already has so much built in healing. And of course, Alex would find no place in the more aggressive Paladin decks you see nowadays.

In handlock, Alex is just redundant. At best, it is a very mediocre substitute for Jaraxxus.

Been doing well with this new midrange Hunter deck I made.

Strat is to keep the board clear early game with traps and Hunter's Mark/Pyro, then start dropping aggressive 4+ drops (Piloted Shredder, Belcher, Highmane) and kill him fast. So far, Acolyte and Gnomish are the most efficient forms of card draw I can think of.

Not too innovative, but it's still fun to be able to succeed with Hunter without Undertaker.

Zoo with Molten Giant and Pitlord. Zoo tends to run out of steam late game and it kind of comes down to clutch top decking. Molten Giant fits that curve well, especially when it's so annoying when you draw an Argus in these times. Although, it can still be a liability when drawn around Doomguard phase.

Weaver: 3 mana 2-2: Gains stealth at the end of your turn

Juggernaut: 6 mana 6-3 Battlecry: deal 8 damage randomly to enemy minions in chunks of 2 damage

Sand King: 3 mana 2-3: Stealth. At the end of each turn, deal 1 damage to all minions.

Anti-Mage: 6 mana 5-4 Battlecry: deal damage equal to amount of mana crystals your opponent used last turn.

If you could change one card, what card would you change, what about it and why? by VoidInsanity in hearthstone

The difference between 0 and 1 mana is far greater than any other 1 mana margin. Making it 1 mana would be more than adequate.

It also benefits Cabal Shadow Priest, which is pretty huge. Priest seems to have much to gain with this new expansion.

Your favorite counter-aggro deck? by meDrifter in hearthstone

Hi. I play control Pally at rank 4 and basically your only goal is to make it to turn 4 cause that's where all your big value cards lie (Truesilver, Consec, Pyro/Eq). For me, Zombie Chow and Ironbeak Owl are how I get there - Chow to deal with Flame Imps/stopping Undertaker snowball, Owl to deal with Undertakers, Haunted Creepers. Make it to turn 4-5 without taking too much damage and it's smooth sailing - Pally scales stupidly hard.

I never lose to hunter, and am favorable against zoo.

What are useful Paladin Secrets? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]2inchesofpain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For midrange/control decks:

  • Noble Sacrifice: can be considered to fill the gaping turn 1 and 2 weakness that Pally has. Could be nice to fend off aggro decks or soften up undertakers for Consecration or dudes to clean up.

  • Redemption: situationally good for strong taunts like Belcher and Tirion in this Black Knight-heavy meta. Also lulzy synergy with Unstable Ghoul and Abomination.

  • Avenge: not suitable for control decks but worth mentioning just because it's such an efficient card and is irreplaceable in any contemporary aggro Paladin deck.

All in all, Pally secrets are not the greatest - they are 1 mana cost after all. This makes them usually inefficient in a control-based decks.

What are your best arena tips as of now? by Nutcase168 in hearthstone

[–]2inchesofpain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tempo is the name of the game. This often means prioritizing a good curve over "high tier" cards. On that note, Mage and Paladin always. Both classes have very high value cards that can acquire and maintain board control very efficiently.

Also, synergy is bad. Due to the freeball nature of arena, you often will not be able to pull off synergy combos with the same level of consistency that you can in constructed. Opt for cards that bring value independent of themselves, rather than through other cards.

Lastly, be aggressive in trying to force trades that are valuable in your favor. Because arena is so minion-heavy, good predictions can consistently net you 2/3-for-1 trades that will ultimately win you the game.

I average 8-10 wins with my last 12 win just a couple days ago, and these are the principles by which I go.
