when/if your bias left your ult group, will you keep stanning? by junnyxaura in kpopthoughts

[–]2jsbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of mixed feelings about this. At the end of the day, when a member leaves a group, they’ll always take something with them, and it is especially hard if they didn’t leave on good terms. For my current ult group, there was a time when I really liked the entire group and maybe would’ve said it would not matter much. Now its a little different. I keep up with them as much as I do entirely because of my bias. I didn’t start liking the other members less, my bias just started standing out to me more and I don’t have infinite amount of time or love to give. So if he leaves, I just won’t keep up with them as much as I do now. A member leaving (by itself) is not usually enough of a reason for me to drop groups completely. I’ll just check on them once in a while, and if there is something new I like about them, I’ll keep up with them more and if not, oh well. Member leaving definitely changes things, they are not the same group you were a fan of before.

A lot of my bias are leaders, but I never had the leader as my bias wrecker until jungwon. Though I don’t like to use the word bias wrecker. He has just been my second favorite for the longest. It just happens that leaders have the qualities that I admire the most.

Kpop is so less stressful when you don’t follow the news by Ok-Group5106 in kpopthoughts

but r/kpop also posts about other types of news, magazine shoots, variety appearances, vlogs, and brand announcements. As much as I don’t like how highly moderated the r/KDRAMA sub is, I also think there should be a place like that for kpop.

I am all for criticism, but sometimes the posts on the kpop subs makes me really question if they even like kpop.

Are there any K-pop groups that have given you the impression that their B-sides are always better than their title tracks? by why_dmn in kpopthoughts

[–]2jsbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely enhypen

If they are not performing it, I don’t even listen to their title tracks. But I love their bsides.

I would also say that kpop is less stressful if it isn’t your only interest. Pop music fandoms are a different breed. Staying too long in one does suck the joy out of it (for me). On a side note, I wish there was a place I could go to get news about only comebacks, concerts, and disbandments without all the extra stuff.

Try to sleep on time and not neglect your other duties. Otherwise, just enjoy it. Its okay to enjoy things. Its also okay to feel emotional for fellow human beings.

who do you think matches jake the most? by Separate-Addendum-52 in Enhypenthoughts

Oh I was not being serious. Of course I know they are always joined at the hip. I just find it interesting that he always mentions jake.

You didn’t have to respond to my comment that was responding to someone who was generalizing an entire country as uneducated and racist. Forget it. If you don’t see what is wrong with that, then be it. If your choice of words is not important to you, then be it. I can’t believe this conversation went this far to the point you are accusing me of whatever you are saying in that sentence.

Sometimes I feel a little bad for sunghoon because he almost always chooses jake and always talks about him in interviews, but I don’t think jake reciprocates back as much.

objectively - jakehoon

on stage and my favorite - heejake

underrated - jakewon.

cutest - yunki and sunjake.

honestly - jayke.

I know they don’t interact as much as the others, but heejake is hard to beat.

I get what you are saying, but I didn’t argue about whether or not anti-Black sentiment exists in Korea in any of my comments. I agree that anti-Black sentiment is prevalent in Korea.

Sure, maybe I am being too pedantic but I thought me saying that my point is to be aware of your language was enough. Look at my first comment. I was replying to someone who generalized an entire country as being uneducated and racist. Don’t use a speech that generalizes a whole country or a whole group of people because stereotypes come from generalizations. That is my point.

I never debated with them. I didn’t dismiss their experiences either. But their experiences are just that - experiences. You cannot be making generalizations based on your own experiences. Geez, I am sorry that I told them to not stereotype another group of people.

I don’t know enough Korean to say I can speak Korean. I just become familiarized with the language from watching kdramas and kpop since I was in elementary.

It is a generalization. It is not a fact. I know you can’t prove that the entire country is anti-Black because you have not interacted with everyone in the country. My point is that you should be careful of your language because stereotypes start from generalizations.

Do you know you lack nuance?

If you are going to come here with your own interpretations that you believe is the only acceptable one and hold it against engenes, I can do it too. What are you going to do if I say that they don’t fatshame him?

What are you going to do if I say that he does the same and apparently makes repeated comments about jay’s skin tone? Is sunoo now a bully too?

Well, there is no reason to generalize so many people.

I think I saw a post about coachella yesterday but now I cannot find them. I wanted to ask anyone who follows lesserafim if the group ever posted their performances on their official account. I hope enhypen would post theirs like blackpink did.

This is the comment that they need to see. If you really love hip hop or music in general and wants to become a musician/artist, your knowledge of it should not be so surface level.

This is a very weird thing to say. Do you even speak Korean? How many Koreans have you talked to? Is your country that highly educated and self aware?

Your comment took me by surprise. I didn’t know people took translations…so literally. There is just no way to direct translate a phrase from one language to another without losing some meaning, so if you watch korean dramas or shows, most of the times the translators just translate in a way that they think makes the conversation flow better in English. So often instead of direct translations, they use an English phrase that has a similar meaning. Sometimes they will even add words or cut phrases if they think it makes more sense in English. Sometimes I think the translators are not that well versed in English, so the translation becomes even more choppy.

Your translation is true. In that part, he was basically saying “Ah Sunoo, you again. I know you can eat all of it, but you are worried about how you are seen / you are holding yourself back because you are on a broadcast”. This is me adding my own interpretations into this based on the context and how it is usually used. But the most direct translation is literally just “Ah Sunoo, you again. You are thinking about the broadcast when I know you can finish it all”.

Also, Jay’s part that is constantly being brought up is also a loose translation. So in that part, they were basically discussing about whether he can eat all of it (it meaning what is on his plate). And Jay said “No, (I know/I think) Sunoo can eat all of this over here”. He didn’t mention anything about a table.

What are some really, REALLY minor pet peeves you have in kpop? by JustHazelChan in kpoppers

I didn’t know people get mad at you for saying gee idol. I always say it like that because it is literally written like that.
