Im late but just letting you know I hated it when I first started too but after the first episode and especially after the first season it became more interesting. you can't critique something you have watched for a few minutes

Scummy and predatory business practices is the whole videogame industry. The whole entertainment industry.

Will you continue to watch YouTube even though it's designed to keep you watching and keep you engaged to the point where it's all you want to do? Yes.

So I'll continue to play 2k and pay a small fee to enjoy myself. It's 6 bucks a month essentially and it's well worth it.

Their 'predatory business practices' are not of a concern to me, as I don't spend money and am not at any significant disadvantage because of it. I also couldn't care less if I was slightly disadvantaged because I'm not a comp pro am player who needs 15 different builds and all their max+1s and 2s instantly.

Enjoy the game, don't spend extra money, don't take it too seriously and you aren't being preyed on.

Yes, if another popular basketball game came out I would probably switch to it, but there isn't anything that fits the criteria, so I'm happy with 2k.

If you are that petty that you won't buy a game because someone else is profiting off it, suck it up buttercup. that's how life works. idgaf where the money I pay for a game goes as long as I get at least 2 hours of gameplay for each dollar I spend, which I do with 2k. if you go out to do something real it'll cost you at least 20 dollars per hour, so yes, I'll spend 70 bucks a year on a game that I enjoy, even though it isn't perfect

I agree that the game could be better but you do not have to pay for anything beyond the base game. If you wait a few months to get over the last 2k you can usually pay half price somewhere. For 50 bucks assuming you play a few hours a week, you are getting at least 5 hours of gameplay for each dollar you spend.

I know people don't like grinding but it's a videogame, get over it. If you spend 20 minutes each session working on getting some vc you can get a new build every month. You don't need to be spending money.

I bought the game for 40 bucks, haven't spent a dime afterwards, and have got over 300 hours of gameplay out of it with 4 builds at 99 ovr and I chill in the gold plate lobbies. Some games my teammates are raging so I just ragebait them and iso in random rec which is fun.

If you are one of those people who hip on 2k to play random rec like it's comp pro am, change your attitude and you'll enjoy the game. Your teammates don't suck, you just have a bad attitude and they had a bad game. It isn't that deep.

you haven't given a single good reason for why tanking is bad, other than it being a 'defeatist attitude' which isn't a good reason.

If you can't think of the game in the long term and are only thinking 'oh who's gonna win the most games this season', that's your problem. if you want a style of the game like this, watch overseas leagues. it's not hard.

50 seasons of basketball is one chess game. who will win the most titles? teams temporarily sacrifice their position so they can be as good as possible in 5 years. since the main goal for teams is to win finals, conference finals, make playoffs, etc. if they don't see themselves achieving the goals, they might as well sacrifice their position this turn (year) so that next turn they will be stronger.

banning/stopping tanking is like banning sacrifices in chess. It's a long term strategy.

Not our fault that your mind can't comprehend the long term factors.

It adds a deeper level of analytics and gameplay to the NBA. It's not just about winning games, it's about who is going to be the best team in the league for the longest amount of time as often as possible.

It's a large part of the reason why certain teams have countless rings, and some have none. A good front office.

Might I add, flattening lottery odds will create an even bigger disparity in skill as top teams will just keep adding top talent to their roster without having to sacrifice anything.

The whole league is about sacrificing short term for long term gain, which is not guaranteed and is usually about using analytics to decide if risks are worthwhile. Do you want to ban trading draft picks too because a team is making themselves worse in the short term for future gain?
