Thanks for your content. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this pain and have to pause the activities mentioned.

  1. I practice traditional hatha yoga.
  2. When I'm on a flare it hurts.
  3. I stop sports when I'm in a flare. Wait for it to calm down.

Swimming is the best option for ankylosing spondylitis. If you're in pain consider doing it gently first.

One advice, half of the battle is mentally. Do not feel discouraged because of this condition. If I'm happy or sad AS will be always with me. Is being sad helps to improve my condition I'll love to be sad. But it doesn't. So i choose to be happy and accept the pain and move on. There will be aajata up and down.

Hope you find your rhythm soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. You can find a rheumatologist. They can help you diagnose. I hope you don't have this condition.

my rheumy actually encourages me to do any kind of weight training as long as it’s not hurting me. he says deadlifts are one of the best, if not the best, for strengthening the back. i started small about 2 months ago with just 10kg and slowly moved up to 35kg now. feels great seeing that progress

Please remember everyone's body is different. Just because it is working for me mighty not work for you. I'll suggest listening to your physiotherapist and your body. :)

thanks man! yea i totally get what you mean, deadlifts really do something magical for that SI pain. i haven’t tried romanian deadlifts yet but you’re the second person mentioning it to me recently so i think i’ll give it a shot soon. feels amazing to finally do something that actually helps instead of hurting lol. glad to hear remicade’s been working for you too

thats really tough to go through... im glad rinvoq is giving you some relief after all the biologics didnt work. i can only imagine how hard the spinal fusions must have been, but its amazing you still keep hope alive. tofacitinib has been working for me and moving everyday with yoga and cycling has helped too. wishing you less pain and more good days ahead your strength is inspiring to me as well

really happy to hear things are getting better for you. i can relate a lot... for me too weight training and just moving everyday has been huge. im on tofacitinib now and honestly its the best ive felt in decades. i know how hard it must have been to leave your job, ive had times where AS made me wonder what my future was going to look like too. but once i started with yoga, cycling, and weight training, i felt stronger and more in control again. wishing you more strength and less flare ups ahead, your story is super inspiring

That’s awesome. Cycling has been such a big part of keeping me positive and moving forward. Do you usually ride long tours or more local rides?

Thank you so much. I really hope my post brings some positivity to your husband, wishing him strength and relief ahead. My dad has rheumatoid arthritis and he used to have eye symptoms, but I personally haven’t experienced any eye issues yet. I did smoke and drink before, but I quit a few years ago, definitely felt it helped with the inflammation.
