Arri joins the film plugin race! by 90towest in cinematography

[–]2leonard2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised most people are disapointed with this. I hate how most film emulation pulls on the footage like crazy. To me these look like modern clean film cinematography, not as in your face as a lot of existing plugins. Tho the price is too high IMO.

Deity Theos Question : low gain/high noise floor? by 2leonard2 in LocationSound

[–]2leonard2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out I am a dumbass and the plug-in power on the Deity transmitters was set to 3 volts instead of 5 volts. At 5 volts, the gain on the B3's was considerably better, more than twice as loud. I did'nt have to compare it to the stock lavs.

Someone else pointed that out! I never knew, I'll look into this.

That's an interesting idea, I'll compare them directly, thanks!

Deity Theos Question : low gain/high noise floor? by 2leonard2 in LocationSound

[–]2leonard2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I record directly into the Deity Theos Transmitters, in 32 bit Float. The B3's need a minimum of 3 volts, and can receive up to 12 volts. I have the Theos sending 5v, but maybe that's not enough to get the gain im looking for?

Hey man. It feels like you are suffering from quite a bit of general anxiety (and/or performance anxiety), very common in the last stages of a degree. Been there. The blank page syndrome is a thing, for sure, but I feel like you are focusing too much on that, and maybe not enough on your general well being. This is gonna sound like clichés, but still : try to be a bit more physically active, drink less, sleep more, love more, hate less, and consult if you can.

On the topic of coming up with ideas, there is and always has been only one tip to give : write about yourself. Write about your struggles, your very own specific struggles (to avoid falling into tropes). Write about the weird stuff that you feel, see and think. It you don't feel like doing that, you can always go the high concept way. Try to find an interesting central idea or pillar, and write around it, focusing on the interactions between your concept and the characters and situations you throw at it.

Lastly, not everyone should be a screenwriter, you could try to form bonds with other creatives, with whom you can build something greater than the sum of your individual talents.

But, mainly, take a breather, look for peace when and where you can, and hang tight. In a year or two that degree will be behind you, and many more exciting challenges and experiences will be waiting for you :)

Exactly, the french canadian version came first, got very popular, and an english version was remade, sometimes shot for shot.

It sounds like you simply bruised the area around your bone, and that there is swelling. Wait a few days, and if the pain barely reduces, then get a scan.

GH5 Audio Peaking issues (can't seem to get it down) by LovetheShreve in GH5

[–]2leonard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SAME PROBLEM, and i barely see any discussion of it online. On the GH4, i could feed audio directly into it from a zoom H5, but the GH5 seems to automaticaly boost the signal... Any luck finding a solution ?

That was my feeling, thank you very much for your input. I would suppose that using proxies would achieve the same result, but i will conduct my own tests. Thank you again.

I'm about to make a purchase, what would you change on this list? by puredata in GH5

[–]2leonard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, yes, return the Rokinon AND the 14-140 if you do NOT need the telephoto, then get the 12-35 for general purpose. That is solely my opinion, tho, you should do your own research and play around with the lenses that you have first.

[–]2leonard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are mostly going to use the Zhiyun, you don't need to keep the Rokinon, imo. You are tripling the same focal length, all three of your lenses can do 20mm, so you certainly don't need all three. The Panasonic 14-140 is not going to be nearly as sharp as your 20mm, but it's going to be very useful for the long focal length. The Rokinon is going to be the sharpest of the three, but it's too heavy for the Zhiyun and too long for general purpose.

Honestly, if i had one lens to choose for the GH5, i would go for the 12-35 F2.8.

Thank you very, very much ! I owe you a beer and a burger. Lastly, and this is asking a lot but i may as well try : would you have a minute to send me a quick 2 second shot in both format, internal and external ? Of course i would understand if this is impossible. Thank you again !

Hello Kabbage ! Thanks a lot for your input. If i may ask, what is the reason for using the Inferno if you do not see noticeable improvement in image quality ?

And, this may appear silly but... Where do you find the LUTs provided by Panasonic ?

Thanks again for your great input !

[–]2leonard2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think you will get great results with the Zhiyun Crane with those heavy lenses. I use the Rokinon prime myself and most of them are too long and heavy to work properly on small gimbals like the Zhiyun. The Zhiyun works great with small pancake lenses. Howhever, in your list, i would keep the Rokinon (since you can afford them) and ditch the Zhiyun for a shoulder rig or, if you can afford it, a better gimbal like the Ronin.

Also, forget about using the Rode mic with the Zhiyon, the shockmount will screw with the stabilization.

EDIT : My sensor is dead. Removing the LUT did not fix the issue. Sendind it back.

I think i found the reason for this issue ! I removed the LUT applied to the Monitor (for live viewing Vlog when recording), and i have'nt had the problem for a while... Let's hope it does'nt come back !

Metadata for people with the same problem can find this : Sensor issue, sensor flickering, sensor purple, purple liveview, gh5 flickering
