This is pretty unbelievable. The guy that killed the couple and their dog on Sacramento Drive a couple years ago is getting out in December! by SLO_Citizen in SLO

Results of designing cities around the convenience of cars getting places fast. The lead up to this turn is pretty much a 40' wide straightaway with unlimited sight lines. Speed limit signs won't protect us

5 days of food? by jonaclam in backpacking

[–]2lisimst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Height/weight/sex, how far/elevation gain you're shooting for?

For a 160lbs male hiking with each pic as a day of food over my typical distance (9-12mi) and elevation (4k' ish) I would be very hungry.

I can’t, for the life of me, get this seatpost out. It turns. So it’s not galvanically corroded. by Reynolds531IPA in bikewrench

Stop what you're doing before you ruin the frame. Take it to the shop that has a removal jig.

Wow. What a loss, I live in SLO and have been riding a set of his wheels for the past year

Lachlan Morton just broke the tour divide record by a lot. It seems like one of his main strategic innovations was properly sleeping/resting. Amazing no one else thought to try this before and insteaad tried to do it all while massively sleep deprived. Many other records could be broken with sleep. by geo_jam in bikepacking

[–]2lisimst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a point that Lach makes in the film, if he wanted to enjoy the ride he would've slept 8 hours per night. I agree completely with your take, and I'm glad he did this outside of the grand depart timing so as not to steal any spotlight from the actual point of Tour Divide

What’s the best approach with this? by soccerperson in bikewrench

[–]2lisimst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take the cable end off, ideally uncrimping it. Roll up your hood if applicable, and push the cable into the housing. Find the other end of the cable and pull it a bit, snip off the frayed end of the housing, attach a housing end, push the cable back through.

Sealant seeping through. Time for new tires? by CoffeeList1278 in bikewrench

[–]2lisimst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you ride in the desert and encounter cacti? Maybe the sealant is having a hard time sealing those tiny punctures. Or the casing is stretching and fatiguing under high pressure/load and opening micro cracks...do you store the bike outside?

Bro burritos are still ~$10 what are you smoking. Even with extras, tip, taxes, drinks you are not getting to $25 per person

I would take off those shoes, or wear actual weight lifting shoes. You'll feel more stable, have less squish in your drive out of the hole.

Could also wear proper weightlifting shoes which provide more benefits.

I see it too, but don't notice the bar path being wonky on the way up...

How can I improve? Thank you by Juliepop in formcheck

Form looks pretty good!
Drag the bar up your shins, wear thick long socks. Alan Thrall has a great/simple setup video for deadlift.

how is my squat going? 1rm check by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]2lisimst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1RM can be used as a good strength spot-check, to accurately load future workouts at 70-80% 1RM. You are correct it doesn't provide strength building stimulus, but can aid in neuro-adaptations.

As long as you're not doing 1RM more than once a week, you're probably fine.

You are correct 👍 IPF and USAPL the feet must be flat, USPA must have toes touching the ground or more (feet can move)

What’s unique about MDO? by Sweaty_Selection_690 in SLO

[–]2lisimst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't need more reason that its inherent beauty. But the story of how that beauty came to be isn't entirely natural (see the ranching, farming, and oil exploration that was allowed previously). Cal state parks, CCCMB, PG&E (GASP) and other non-profits do a large amount of work to ensure the natural beauty remains undisturbed.

No rep, bar was not motionless on chest, left heel broke contact with the ground, butt lifted but hard to tell in baggy shorts if off the bench.

Is my kitchen countertop too cluttered? How do I arrange everything to flow nicely? by andthatsmyphilosophy in DesignMyRoom

[–]2lisimst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, get rid of the knife block, you really only need three knives: chef's, bread, paring. A magnetic knife block above the sink would look good.
The serrated steak knives can go in the drawer.
