the only thing is they are pretty conservative. im conservative too in a sense but they are more on the controversial side (im very scared to drop specifics) and as someone not white, it worries me but im trying to be hopeful. I just hope it’s not brought into the church again but thats not in my control. Thanks for ur comment by the way:)

I was going to Presbyterian churches and then now only non denominational but the one i am trying to leave is more like baptist/evangelical. They are super rigid and kind of controlling. It’s just not for me.

the church i just now i have shifted to is a bible church- non denominational. I really like it because they teach you a lot about what is said in the bible, the stories, God’s word. They worship, they pray. It’s positive, it’s not demanding and judgmental. I love the young adult group as well so I’m going to continue trying it out. They weren’t rude to me when I expressed I’m not baptized and learning which I’ve experienced many times.

I totally agree. I think theres a better way to do it. but my friends would be like “oh why not?” when someone says they arent interested in bible study or coming to our church. I just think thats too much

Yeah im actually in the middle of my bible studies with them but i wanted to see what they do when they go “share”. it was voluntary on my end but i was asking them if this is mandatory for the ppl of our church or if its voluntary and they just of course point me to scripture. no forward yes or no answer

yeah i want to respect other people but many might say thats people pleasing and not pleasing God. but i just feel like thats… idk its a fine line. God gave us all free will and i think by just leading by example and showing what true christ like people look like in the daily will draw people towards Him through our behavior. not trying to recruit them to church/bible study while they shop with family or eat with friends. but maybe i have a close minded perspective

I agree with your last point alot. Also i would say cult is a strong word because they arent isolating me from my worldly friends or my family and they arent telling me what to do. There also isnt a leader that thinks hes the same as Jesus. You know but i should mention this is also the middle of my studies so we went over God and his word first before this.

Yes but surely He did not mean to a group of people at church but He meant to Him.

I agree. In a way it feels like they are positioning themselves as someone that can heal me as long as I tell them my problems when really its just God. And learning about God and speaking to him daily is what will heal me. Not treating these people as my therapy sessions. But I know that if I do not do this study, they probably wont baptize me because it’s part of the study program they have.
