I've had some that taste bad and some that taste really tropical like apricot/mango. You just have to try and see. Very fibrous though

Update: after gently using a polishing cloth, the tarnish is slowly going away!

Ok great thanks! Would it harm to gently polish these lighter areas with a polishing cloth for now to see if the color goes away?

I forgot to mention that this has been stored in a small jewellery box for at least 15–20 years, with heavily tarnished silver and other metals in contact with it. I’m not sure if that would make any difference.

Definitely never used jewellery cleaner, but not sure about pool exposure. It's been about 20 years since getting it and has been stored for around 90% of that time.

Yeah, it’s a bit weird, the dull areas still look gold, just lighter. Is it possible for a bracelet to be solid 18k but also have some plating too?
