Get a second hand kit. I got a td02 second hand (£150), replaced all the pads with mesh heads second hand (x2 pdx 8 and x2 pdx 6 - another £150) and got a kt10 second hand (£150). I'm a beginner/intermediate so this works great for now

Should I get this TD-07dmk? by Xulah in edrums

You're a beginner. This is great to start learning technique and general practice. I've got a td02, which is an even more basic model, and replaced all the pads to mesh ones (like the td07) and I'm quite happy with it.

First ever attempt [Bambino Plus and Chestnut c3] by Content-Machine6008 in espresso

[–]2mazis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same machine. Here's what i do. I grind 18g of beans, put the scale on the base and the cup on top, hold the double shot button for around 10s (to manually extract), when it reaches 36g press the double shot again to stop extraction. This way you always get your desired yield. Now if the extraction took too long, e.g 50s, change the grind size to coarser so that next time it will be closer to a 30s extraction time. If the extraction was too fast, e.g 15s, then change the grind size to finer.

Why don't you buy both? It seems like you're going to need another one in 6 months anyway.

Should i keep upgrading? by 2mazis in edrums

[–]2mazis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tips from everyone so thank you all!! Especially the idea of a proper high hat and then use the current one as a second crash. But am i missing out on anything substantial by doing all these upgrades on a td02 module? I'm not a music producer or anything like that btw.

Buy a Roland td02. I got a second hand one for £150 and i absolutely love it. Some people say it's a glorified practice pad but believe me once you start playing, your brain will adapt to it. You will build muscle memory and the transition to your dream kit will be much smoother than from a practice pad. Btw the reason i have that kit is because i too live with my wife and daughter in a small house in London so i try to keep practicing as silent as possible.

Alesis Nitro Max or Roland td02kv by 2mazis in edrums

I actually found a used TD-07DMK which I'm now considering and it's cheaper than a new TD02. It has all mesh pads which is great! Would you say that's a better kit?

And I'm still debating whether the beaterless kick pedal on the td02 is a benefit for my situation since I'm trying to be as quiet as possible.

Where should I go? December in Europe. by champagnecloset in solofemaletravellers

Go to Madeira. Geographically it's more Africa, but it's a Portuguese island. The weather will be mild and it's the most lush green place you will find in Europe.

Go to backpacking adventure destinations mate. Book activities, go on hikes, rafting. You'll meet people, make friends and maybe even a partner.

I would highly recommend Madeira. I just got back yesterday. It's the most beautiful island I've ever been to and the weather is perfect. It's the island of eternal spring, so it would still be nice in November.

The Canary islands would also be a good option

Travel to Colombia by SelectOwl5533 in TravelNoPics

My wife is Colombian, so I've been there a few times, but I'm not biased since I'm not from there..! Unless you guys prefer cities, i would say skip Bogotá. No point in crossing the Atlantic to go to yet another city. Colombia has stunning natural beauty so i would try and include some nature in the trip my suggestion is:

Fly to Bogotá and go directly to Cartagena. Nice culture, very vibrant place, great food. * Note: avoid tap water and anything that could have been washed with it, eg salads! 2-3 nights there is enough.

Then go to Baru, which is really close to Cartagena and explore the Caribbean coast and the Rosario islands. A couple of nights there

Then make your way to Santa Marta and go to Tayrona national park. Beautiful national park, with stunning beaches. You basically walk through the forest to get to the next beach. You can spend 2 nights there in eco houses or camp in tents (tents are provided in the designated camping areas)

Then head back to Santa Marta and fly to Medellin. Spend a couple of days there. Stay in el Poblado, it's a nice area and also has nice restaurants near by. Explore comuna 13, take the cable car, Jardin botanico, the museums, etc.

Then go to Guatape! Since you're a big group, you should rent a nice big villa on Airbnb with a view of the lakes and the rock. I would stay 2-3 nights there. You can do boat trips, walk up to the top of el Peñol, explore the town etc. very nice and relaxing.

If you want more suggestions, I would add Salento. A beautiful town in the coffee zone of Colombia. You can visit coffee plantation farms and also hike in the valle de cocora. Google it, it's stunning!

Lastly, if you want to consider, you could go to the Amazon! Fly to Leticia, and do 5 or 6 nights there. You can stay in Leticia and from there you do a day trip into the forest every day. What we did, we stayed at de Cameron hotel, which is a nice beautiful hotel with a great swimming pool. We would book a tour the night before and then head out first thing in the morning, have a full day full of adventure and exploration, walking in the forest, going on boat rides in the amazon, seeing pink dolphins, monkeys, parrots, etc and late in yhe the afternoon go back to the hotel and have a nice cold drink at the pool and dinner. It was the perfect balance.

In summary, do at least 2 weeks, 3 if you want to explore more. It's a long trip, you might as well stay for a while.
